Cosplay and Working on a Japanese-Victorian Maid Concept Cafe

Let me share you some pictures about my life and time when I am cosplaying and working at a maid cafe! Since I was a little girl, I have always been into anime and gaming. One day I was given a chance to work part time in a concept cafe and I never think twice to accept the offer!

A concept cafe is most common in parts of Japan. These cafes cater to a specific theme; in my cafe's case; Victorian themed and the servers are called butlers and maids! We also dress up and then call the customers "My Lord" or "My Lady".

We have themes every month. In the above picture, you can see on the left, me on the normal days in the cafe. The right is me on our Halloween theme. I remembered one time when I approached a Japanese customer for his order, he asked for a less scary looking maid! (*≧▽≦)

Being in the cafe heightened my interest in cosplay. Me and the other maids and butlers became friends and started to delve into the world of cosplay!

My cosplay days were one of the highlights of my creative years when my parents didn't support me getting into art school. I met new friends with the same interest.

A year after working in the cafe, I had to stop because I had to do some thesis work. I wanted to go back after all the university work but sadly, the cafe closed down due to management issues... but I still have the friends I made while working there so it was all worthwhile!
