I am extremely grateful to be able to live in Cape Town - it is truly beautiful and the beaches are fantastic.
Being able to walk on the beach is so good for us - in so many ways - all our senses can benefit, the roar of the waves as they crash on the shore, the smell of the kelp, the taste of salt on our lips, the feel of the sand between our toes and the beauty surrounding us as we gaze at sea and mountains.
At most of the beaches here in the Cape, you can walk long distances - something I love to do and normally carry a packet in case I stumble on something beautiful that has been washed up on to the beach - a piece of drift wood, shells, pebbles that have been tumbled by the ocean - now round and smooth.
Occasionally, one can meet up with some of the local fishermen standing on the shore with their big fishing rods hopeful of landing that "big one"
Both kids and dogs love to play in the sea and sand relishing the sheer freedom of it all.
Hearts and love letters written in the damp sand which will sadly be washed away when the tide comes in again.
Sand castles, buckets and spades, sun umbrellas and picnics, sun bathers and surfers - there is nothing quite so exhilarating -it is time well spent for everyone.
Oh what a great way to spend a sunny morning or afternoon! Strolling, walking and looking for unusual items. Sounds so perfect!

Nothing like living on the edge of the map. Unless you got an ocean going boat in your pocket the choices are easy, you can go right, left, back the way you came, or just stay there.
we are very fortunate to live by the sea with such gorgeous beaches and mountains.
No mountains here in South Texas but we got mile and miles and miles of beach to drive on. If one is brave enough you can head down the National seashore and get so far away from civilization you can dream. The first 15 miles most any car can travel. From 15 miles to 35 you pretty much need 4 wheel drive. After that there is another 25 miles where you may not see another human for days. Paradise....

Silly question - but does it get get cold in Cape Town? In the states we don't learn much about geography in school - lol
Yes the water is very clear. -we are in a winter rainfall area and it can get quite cold, but not freezing, and the summers are lovely and hot.

It is gorgeous. I miss being near a beach. Where I grew up we were 45 minutes from Galveston an island off the coast in Texas.

I was there 3 years ago and loved the beaches. What I found funny was the description of the wildlife compared to my country. We have ducks and you have great whites. Bit of a difference 😂 #steemitbloggers

You just reminded me that I had set the intention to go at least once a week to the beach for a walk. Most beaches here do not allow for really long walks, but they are beautiful nonetheless.

I am going out on a limb here and guessing your name is actually Lizelle? If that is correct, that would make you the third Lizelle I have met on steemit and all are from South Africa. That seems to be a popular name in RSA or am I wrong.
Oh, and the beach is beautiful but right now your name has my attention.
Nearly right, it is Elizabeth but most people call me Lizzie or Liz.
The others are Lizelle and that is such a unique name for me to run across being in the USA, I don't know of any Lizelle's here. I do know a few Elizabeth's and most just go by Beth that I know. Thanks for answering my curiosity questions Lizzie.
