Long ago, in a land of magic and happiness, there lived a young fairy named Rin. She had a pair of  golden eyes that matched her long, golden hair. Rin lived with her mother and her older sister, Era, whose beauty and kindness was considered to be one of a kind. Rin admired her sister more than anyone in the world.

When she was so much younger, Rin would tag along with her sister wherever the latter went. They did everything together, and their mother had always considered herself lucky for having two wonderful girls who loved each other. They were inseparable, and looked almost alike, so much that their neighbors often mistook one from the other. For years, the duo had trained their craft together until they became the most powerful fairies on the land.

They were both strong, but one of them aspired more power than the other. Little by little, their once invincible bond started to break, quietly shattering around them until all that was left were dust. Rin had to get used to being on her own, while her sister chased her ambitions to satisfy her greed.

Years later, her hard work paid off, and Rin was appointed as the prime guardian of the magical forest where they lived, a position that Era had always wanted to achieve. This sparked an anger inside her that she had ignored for so long. For her, she was stronger and more powerful than her little sister, hence, she deserved the position more than Rin. She promised herself that she will do everything to destroy her sister's reputation.

One day, Rin was awoken by a loud commotion outside their house. When she finally saw what was happening, a crowd of panic-striken fairies turned to her to ask for help.

"There was a monster! I saw it last night! It was the one who did this!," the other fairies told her. Rin wept at the sight of burned trees and houses around her. According to the villagers, the fire started before dawn and they were too shocked to evrn try to stop it. They were all convinced that a monster did it, and that it would come back to destroy the whole place.

"No! I won't let that happen," Rin promised the other fairies. She assigned guardians to check every corner of the forest to track the intruder, while she helped the fairies find a safe place to stay. When the night came, she stayed up to make sure that everyone was okay. Days passed by, and they were all convinced that the forest was safe. They went on with their lives and tried to forget the incident.

But one night, the village was awoken by big balls of flame raining on their roofs. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but many houses burned down, along with dozens of trees. Again, Rin was enraged by this. She did everything she could to guard the forest, but the enemy was sneaky and cruel. She apologized to everyone and swore that she will never let it happen again.

This time, Rin doubled the security measures and made sure that no one was lurking around the forest at night. For days, the forest was all calm and peaceful, so much that Rin was almost convinced that it was safe to rest.

Meanwhile, the monster was confident that her final plot would ensure her victory. She went to the darkest part of the forest and started to perform her ritual. The fairies are going to have the longest night of their lives, she thought as she laughed at her evil plan.

Not far from where the monster was, a group of guardians who happened to do their rounds at that time heard the noise. They all quietly ran towards the source, but what they saw didn't make any sense. Still, they decided to report it to Rin and let her decide what to do.

The monster used all of her strength to create the great ball of fire that was large enough to turn the whole village into a pile of ashes. She can hardly wait to do it, but she knew the time has not yet come.

"How could you do this? This is your home!" The monster was startled by the voice behind her and she lost all her concentration. Her ball of fire suddenly vanished before her eyes and she angrily turned around to face the owner of the voice. "You fool! Do you know how long it took me to do that? Now you will have to pay!," she said.

"You are blinded by your greed, dear sister. I won't let you destroy yourself, and our home," Rin replied.

But Era only grew angrier. "This is all your fault! I should be the prime guardian! Not you! You can't even protect the village! Everything that happened is because of you!" The crowd had then gathered around them, and they all witnessed what had become of the girl who was once so gentle and kind. They felt sorry for her and for Rin, who did nothing but protect them from her sister's cruelty.

"I'm sorry, Era. All I did, I did for us, and for Mother. I love you, and I always will, but this has to end."

Era laughed at her sister mockingly as she gathered all of her remaining strength, attempting to create a giant fireball for the second time that night. But anything that was done with a pure heart and good intention is much stronger. As her sister released the fireball towards her, Rin created a shield to protect everyone around her, forcing the fireball to bounce.

It all happened so fast, that Era didn't have time to prepare herself for what was coming. Her own power consumed her, and she was stuck inside her ball of fire for the rest of her life. Rin still couldn't believe that her sister was capable of doing such thing, and felt bad for letting it happen. But it was too late to change things, and all she could do was to continue their dream on her own -- for her mother, for Era, and for their beloved home.
