There are many roles played by a teacher, both in the classroom and in their social environment. One of the teacher's role is as a demonstrator.
As a demonstrator, the teacher must be able to convey messages that will be taught to the students to be easily understood by them. The delivery of scientific messages can be done in various ways and methods. Therefore, the teacher as a demonstrator must have the ability pedagogy and skills in teaching.
For example, when I teach conversations in Arabic, I have to demonstrate to the students how an Arabic conversation is done well. I also had to look convincing in front of them, minimizing small mistakes in the delivery of knowledge messages. The mistake made by a teacher has a negative impact on the learning process.
Being a teacher is a fun profession. We can add knowledge and learn to practice appropriate teaching methods. Before we teach a subject, then we first re-examine what we want to convey to our students.
Therefore, the learning plan is a mandatory step that must be done by the teacher. Although in reality, there are still many teachers who ignore this lesson plan.
Teachers as demonstrators don't only play a role in the school environment. In the social environment of the community, teachers also become demonstrators in behaving well. Teachers must maintain ethical values or social norms in a society. And teachers should be examples of noble deeds.
Then, what is the key to the success of the teacher as a demonstrator?
First, the teacher must be able to master the subject matter that will be taught. This is an absolute requirement. Educational institutions need to pay attention to the ability of teachers to be recruited from aspects of their pedagogical abilities. In some cases, the recruited teachers sometimes do not have good competence in their respective fields. In Indonesia, majoring in teacher often used as a last resort by prospective students. This last option because they did not pass the test on the campuses they like, for example, the faculty of medicine, faculty of engineering, and others.
Secondly, the teacher must master some learning methods in accordance with the subject matter that will be delivered. This method of learning is also one of the important keys to the learning process can take place properly. If the teacher wants to deliver a lesson about writing, then choose the appropriate method. Mistakes in choosing a learning method will be bad for the students. One of them is the message delivered is not acceptable to them.
So let us be a good teacher demonstrator so that the teacher can be a role model for the students as well as the community.
