Learning with Memory Techniques: The Periodic Table of Elements (56-60)

in #steemiteducation7 years ago (edited)
This is an easy way to learn Barium, Lanthanum, Cerium, Praseodymium and Neodymium. Learning with memory techniques is much easier than rote repetition. Especially when the images are already layed out to you in a clear and intuitive way. In this series we will memorize the Periodic Table of Elements by connecting it with the Visual Major System for numbers. We will cover five elements per post with special training images for all elements and numbers. Please check out our other episodes for more elements.

Elements Legend

Each element comes with a special training image. These contain the element number, a common application, a phonetically similar image for the name and the element symbol. The color of each training image indicates the element category.

56. Barium

In the Visual Major System 5 = S or Z and 6 = G or K. With that we can create the word SOCK. The fiftysixth element Barium sounds similar like Barista. This element is used in spark plugs.

The coffee filters are gone so the Barista uses his sock instead. The coffee machine is so disgusted that it sparks and plugs shoot out.

57. Lanthanum

In the Visual Major System 5 = S or Z and 7 = L. With that we can create the word SAIL. The fiftyseventh element Lanthanum sounds like a lantern. It can be used for camera lenses so we imagine an objective.

The crew has no fire so they pull up a lantern with an objective attached to it up the sails. Now they magnify the light into the lantern and light it up. Voila.

58. Cerium

In the Visual Major System 5 = S or Z and 8 = F or V. With that we can create the word SOAP. The fiftyeighth element Cerium sounds like cereal. The element is used in flint and we can visualize that with a lighter.

First you use soap to clean the cereal and then you use a lighter to dry it again.."
Come up with your own story or ask your students to that.

59. Praseodymium

In the Visual Major System 5 = S or Z and 9 = J or SH. With that we can create the word SUSHI. The fiftyninth element Praseodymium sounds like president and we can imagine the White House for that. The element is used as yellow glas in welding goggles.

60. Neodymium

In the Visual Major System 6 = G or K and 0 = R. With that we can create the word CAR. The sixtieth element Neodymium sounds like a new + diamant. The element is used for magnets in loudspeakers for example.
