POETRY | DAY 26 | Panic Attack

Panic Attack, poetry by @naquoya.

Day 26 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge

Panic Attack

A heartbeat tries to make itself known
by announcing its intentions
at one thousand miles an hour.

Moments ago all had been still.
Now that moment has broken
and the dark night crept in.

Neurons dance to the sound of their own beat,
laid down in a tempo that defies
all compassion or empathic details.

The breath is forgotten, like a stranger,
like a bearer of bad tidings who has
come back for more.
Uninvited, he sits by and watches
as a crushing weight tumbles down.

Not the first time
but each time is never unique,
nor incomplete.
Suffocating,
pulsating
its insipid demands,
its crushing weight.

Until a memory returns;
Breath.

Beautiful and sad at the same time.

And it is exactly like you've said it. Sadly, there are times when breathing techniques do not work and you are stuck in that feeling of panic more than you think you can handle.

Much ❤

I agree, most times breathing solves nothing, except to remind me where i am. Sometimes that helps.

that overwhelming feeling, you have described it so well, your words bring you into that strong feeling of losing control and fear. Very nicely done @naquoya.

It is overwhelming, despite experiencing it many times before. It can feel suffocating, so hopefully I conveyed that with words. Thanks for your comment.

So sorry. I suffer them too, and they suck.

May as well turn bad experiences into good art.

Tus líneas pintan muy bien, con el trazo de un gran pintor, las sensaciones que produce un ataque de pánico. Buen trabajo, hermano @naquoya.

Muchas gracias :)

Well, we're into the second quarter of the challenge. I'm so glad to be able to read your poems. They are a treat I don't take for granted.

Thank you, for reading, commenting, and helping out with feedback :)

Yup! Know that feeling!

And it's never pleasant.

When I saw this I thought of you. :)

Great work, Naquoya. The mind can take odd turns and then take over the body. I hope these things don't happen too often,

Thank you. The mind can lead in all the wrong directions, sometimes. These are, fortunately, more a thing of the past than present. But the feeling is indelibly imprinted inside of me now.

I understand.
