The next season has started, scores have been reset and season reward cards have been distributed. I'm not sure I will keep this experment going, though...

## Time To Jump Ship?
The reason I'm considering to stop the experiment is not that I don't like it. Yes, it can be frustrating at times, but I love to come up with creative ways to earn some extra money and build my deck.
It's obvious that I'm not the only one who thinks the time might have come to jump ship before it goes down. I've talked to loads of people who are selling their cards, now they still have a little value, and it only takes a quick look at the marketplace to see there are plenty of them.

It's a difficult decision to make. My friends @davemccoy is right when he says that a couple of small changes (like adding rewards per league, or rewarding the top 500 players with a small incentive) could change the tide.

The **Top25** players will each receive 1 steem as a reward for their cooperation.

In this tournament, the **top 14** players will be rewarded with 2 Steem each.
All players who don't receive a reward will receive a lottery ticket for the '**2nd Chance Lottery**' I will be hosting on Sunday from my main account.

## Indecisive
I'm still indecisive about what to do. Yesterday, I've put all my gold foil cards up for sale.
I'm still hoping Matt and aggroed will come to their senses and make the changes the game needs so badly if it wants to survive.
You would think that after all the negative feedback they have been receiving since the previous season ended, they would have published a post by now. But no, they are too busy testing the automated tournaments on the test server to care about their player's base. If you're not a top 50 player, they don't care anyway.
Meanwhile, dozens of people are leaving Steemmonsters, hoping that the new [Drugwars](https://staging.drugwars.io/#!/ref/@itisjustme) game will live up to its promises that it can be played for free.
I'm going to give it a few days to see what will happen, and which message will be sent from the Steemmonsters founders - if there will be any message at all - before I decide what to do.

I feel your pain - I am struggling too - got 22 reward cards, and nothing that will help me drive my deck upwards. On my primary account I hit Diamond 2 the last 2 seasons, and this season, only hit diamond 3 for a few games before being forced back down to Gold... that is after buying 110 packs. Not sure about the long term future of my time and money investment into SM.
Drugwars playing drugwars for free only will be hard. If you look at the prices there isnt much you can do without waiting days to earn enough to buy a single upgrade. But - they are still making a lot of changes and could easily make that change too.
I am going to keep going for at least this season, then we will see if I keep the project pure.
I've put my entire gold deck on the market, but I'm hesitating to sell my other decks.
Part of me wants to believe they will come to their senses.again... I know I should know better than that, but it is hard to believe they are really going to keep going down this path of destruction.
I can not understand how you can kill your own business in the way they are doing it now...
I wonder if they ever get their heads out of the clouds and know what is happening....

I have faith that some changes will be made as often as possible to keep everyone happy, but it's a lot of work for such a small team and these things don't happen overnight. Market value really has nothing to do with these cards imo, they're to be used in the game and that's the point so I just don't understand that argument.
Hope you stick around though, I know a lot of things are planned and I know the devs aren't intentionally sabotaging their own game. Just give it a little time, the progress that's happening is pretty amazing if you knew just how much of it @yabapmatt had to do, alone.
I know Matt has a lot to do, and I hope they don't sabotage their own game on purpose, lol. But on purpose or not, they are - for the moment.
They are losing quite some people.
Maybe they could add someone to the team especially for communicating with the players, sot the devs can do what they must do, and the players know where they stand...

I totally understand that the way rewards are distributed and the way Newcomers should be motivated to keep playing is out of balance right now. But as you already said aggroed and yaba are too busy right now with automated tournaments. The release will be next week and than yaba promised to focus on all the little things that make the reward system much better.
We will ultimatly end up with seperated leagues and seperated reward pools thats what he also promised and what is in my view the best way to go for everybody.
So, if you decide to sell all your cards right now and being not patience enough to wait for another 2 weeks until more updates released. You probably will miss a great chance where Steemmonsters will improve a lot from the gameplay.
If market prices catch up is a different story but I see this investment longterm which means as long there is no other better game on Steem I will stick to SM.
And no Drugwars doesn't show to have that longterm potential its more of a short term hype. When the daily reward pool melts down than most of the fire is gone and you don't hold any assets that you can transfer or play with.
They just need to get this tournament thing u
Thanks for this information, @masterthematrix. Was this communicated to the world outside and did I miss this somehow? First thing I hear about separate pools. (It wouldn't be the first time I miss info, so it could be - although something tells me it wasn't, taking the number of people that are quitting...)
I really hope that they can fix things, and turn it into an enjoyable game for everyone again, because I love playing. I hate seeing it turn into a frustration more than anything else for a lot of people.
I had hoped for at least a little message on the blog to let all unsatisfied people know that there were more updates coming than just the automated tourneys...
I picked it up from a conversation in the maverick channel on discord.
Yeah, communication always could be better but I think as soon this automated tournament thing is out they will be releasing more information about what will come going forward. They even mentioned that delegating cards is also one of their main features to implement. When you think about that this is huge alone by itself.
I had the honor today to play on the Testnet one of those automated Tournaments and it works great! A much better user experience from what we have now.
