Starting today I am switching my blog about the game and hopefully driving more community content that has value to existing players and potential new players.
Novice league is the first league you start playing in when you pick up Steem Monsters for the first time. It's your basic introduction to the different Splinter factions and some of the varied rule-sets that you will have to creatively battle in when playing against other players. It's a quick league to blow through for anyone who has played a collectible card game and usually only takes one win to complete it. You want to do this ASAP to start earning your daily rewards and be eligible for season rewards.
The limits in Novice aren't noticeable and for me, I didn't realize how important they become later on. Your summoner card levels play a pivotal role in how successful your deck will be in every game mode later on. In Novice League everything is level one so it's negligible and has no impact on play. The different card rarities have an immediate impact as anyone who is familiar with this genre. Those epic and legendary cards will be much stronger than your common and uncommon cards.
The How to Play button will become your best friend as you wade into battle. One of the greatest strengths for Steem Monsters is the multitude of card abilities and we'll definitely take a look at some of the best and worst ones in a later article. I generally don't recommend printing but having a copy of the abilities list next to you while playing is a handy thing to have when you first start playing. The best strategy for playing Novice League, drop your highest rarity card each fight and conquer. Let's be honest, it's Novice League and you aren't meant to stay here. You have your eyes set on loftier leagues were the rewards are more lucrative and the accolades of your future victories ring in your dreams.
