Victor's way - The Indian Sculpture Park

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

Contemplative garden for adults. A haven of peace and quiet in the middle of the Wicklow Mountains.

It's a unique park in style worldwide houses the works of 15 Indian sculptors in a vast mountainous terrain of Ireland, which receives a large number of tourists a year to see a bit of Indian culture in European lands, being the first of its kind.

It has an area of 9 hectares of private property, is located in Wicklow County. It is a contemplative meditation garden in a mountainous area of abundant forest and lakes, which stands out for its black granite sculptures. The sculptures are explicit reasons why children are not allowed in the place.
Its owner Victor, a German elderly man, is from a wealthy family, but did not want to follow in his father's footsteps, so before entering university, he left his country to go to India in search of answers about himself.

He went up to a cave in the Himalayas to reflect on the great truths of life, on his way he met all kinds of wandering gurus from whom he gained some wisdom.

He became a Buddhist monk, studying ways in which humans can change their way of thinking, patterns and behavior from an understanding of human behavior that transcends the spiritual plane. At the age of 50 he decides to return to Ireland taking a little bit of India with him, had a dream where he saw sculptures in a garden and wanted to materialize that illusion.
He decided to build a park for adults between the ages of 28 and 50, consisting mainly of 30 sculptures designed by him but made by Indian craftsmen from black granite. Each one weighs between 4 and 6 tons, so it required a great deal of logistics to be transported in containers by ship from one continent to another.

Each one of them represents the human behavior that Victor studied, some of them could even be defined as terrifying, but it is because the human being also keeps a dark part that he must learn to dominate, so that it does not come out on the feelings of goodness or hinder the spiritual connection with the cosmos.

Every year, thousands of people go to this little corner of Ireland because they see it as a place of tourist interest, carried away by the curiosity of knowing the strangest modern sculptures of the European continent. But in addition to that they have found a haven of peace and connection with the pure essence of nature.
Victor began the construction of his park at the age of 50 after living for 30 years in India, he designed the Victor's way park as the physical materialization of what he had learned in his spiritual journey, the concept of the garden is to contemplate life and flex on existentialism.

The entrance to the place is a serrated vagina that represents the entrance of all religious establishments in the world, because most of them have the uterus as the origin of creation. The sharp edges or teeth come from the Indian culture which indicates that it is a dangerous door to enter.

To enter the park people must enter through this vagina-shaped tunnel, which makes them wonder about their situation in life and remember the way they came into the world. Upon leaving the park the impression is about the rebirth of the individual with a new opportunity to be a different human being, one better than the one who entered.
The park does not have a religious function and can in fact be understood as a mockery of religions, which is why visitors should have a broad mentality without the barriers of social dogmas. Contemplative meditation is a method of spiritual encounter that Victor wants to promote in his park, since it is a place to reflect and do an introspection on our purpose in life.

It is a site that I am very interested in learning about because of the life history that precedes it, it shows that people with great minds that seem not to fit into the conventional social system are the ones who surprise the world with new ideas doing what seemed impossible before. Victor is a restless person, but has made his park a place of peace, he can often be found there having a pleasant chat with his visitors.
