Definitely a possibility. Policing copyrighted content may always be an issue regardless of what system is used to display video.

I don't fully understand about those things yet, but with the little knowledge i have about this subject your idea looks like it makes sense, but I'll keep an Eye at the other comment too, It is always good to others opinion so we can all learn together

I totally agreed with @andyluy
also love your memes <3
keep it up ;)

Nice meme indeed. Let the force be with you.. And the Video transfers. lol

Amazing idea!! no one got here in this space.

But, as the very technology it depends on network seeding....

What if the video lacks seeds and leechers?

Direct upload can handle that problem. But the torrents need the seeding. If a video blogger had to step on this... then he need to pay for seedboxes. Because every individual cant able to afford such high bandwidth it requires. May for couple of videos. Its OK!!

But, for a video Blogger?

As @jwolf said, witness may solve this issue. If not, then steemit platform should take care about seedbox thing, then its a big YES!!

Just my opinion. I may be wrong in my understanding about torrent file sharing system. I am open and positive to get corrected.

Thank You.

may be or may be not !! Following and upvoted hope you follow too @blazing

I was wondering how much storage just the photos were taking up, let alone the potential video storage requirements. $104 million, that's a lot of Steem!

I can't see Steemit decoupling from YouTube anytime soon with those figures!

@abh12345 the article is 5 years old also and the storage/network demands are exponential, so I bet it's at least double by now.

Yes the numbers are mind boggling to say the least! I wonder what plans, of any, are in store for this.

The are are quite a few data hosting apps coming on the blockchain. Two that I know of are Storj and Sia. Hopefully once these techs mature we can have some ways of using them through steemit

True, most likely steem community can just copy working code from one of these projects if they are open source, like how steem is coying the POW from Litecoin for account creation in hardfork 20.

Get steem for seeding, everyone will seed!

There's also those applications that allow streaming of certain Torrents which could save on bandwidth rather than having to DL the entire file to view anything.

Yeah just reward steem power to seeders

Idea is good to have bittorrent but if steem can introduce their own cloud storage service that will be perfect.

The nearest thing I can think of is Burst Nation Radio. Only that is only funded by and not on a blockchain metaphysically. I mean like that would be a phoneme chain or similar. Maybe steemit could fund it's own YouTube. Maybe it could buy YouTube. Just not yet.

This is brilliant, copyright has always been a big issue and the fact is everybody wants to do the right thing and give content creators their due it's just that a big cut goes to the middleman. By putting content on the blockchain ( and we are now doing it with LBRY and other Cryptos) we definitely know it's possible. Now if we can integrate that into steemit via some smaller cluster bittorrent style like @inventor16's idea it would add a whole new value to Steemit. ( That would be like steemit becoming Facebook and Youtube in one place! ). We do have a lot of smart people that can maybe figure this out, heck they might be doing it now. I can already imagine me in a way hosting the content while also watching it at the same time. Please take my 100% Upvote kind sir.

I definitely think something has to be done about having video hosted not on third party sites like Youtube. While people storing video on third party sites means that we don't have to pay the costs of hosting it, the Steem platform is assisting competing platforms by doing so. Youtube ads and promoted links still show up in videos which benefit them.

Hey bud, I have lately been following the LBRY blockchain project. It has a lot in common with the latest posts you wrote. Would be cool if we could ditch Youtube and host our video's on LBRY. Hosting on STEEM would be the very best option but that would need some work :) Nice brainstorming though, would be amazing to see a video host on the STEEM blockchain.

If you want to check out the LBRY project, here are some links:

You should also check out this video if intrerested.

@rickvanboxtel LBRY is a marketplace which is different than what the steem community is looking for imo.

True, but you are able to put videos up for free which basically makes it a Youtube 2.0.

@rickvanboxtel The content in steem both written and video should be free to view imo, maybe a free version of LBRY would work, I would need to do more due diligence about the platform.

Yes, there was I pointing at. Of course, should the content be free to watch. It would be odd if we had to pay for blog videos or anything in that range. Great to see your thoughts on this subject :)

It can be done, a few people are just using youtube and actually I seen some people go LIVE on youtube and had it LIVE on Steemit. hmmm

Why is steemit the best social media out there?
Hi everyone, I hope all of you guys enjoy steemit just as much as I do. We all know that since the conception of social media, there has never been fair sharing of profits with it's users. We spend countless hours posting, liking, commenting, inviting families and friends to join us on facebook, twitter, instagram and whatsapp platforms with no rewards.
We will never get paid for all the information we shared on those social networks. The great news is that STEEMIT is a social media platform like the others but with the opportunity to make loads of money. It is better to spend time here than on facebook or twitter. We have been technically working hard to make facebook and twitter rich without knowing we were doing it. Now we can make ourselves rich at Steemit and also enable our families and loved ones to make extra income to pay their bills and take care of themselves by introducing them to Steemit! I am glad that today, we can get paid for what we share and much more when the content of our posts is helpful to others. I want to encourage everyone reading this todays to spread the news and invite all your friends to join STEEMIT. I wonder if there is a reward for inviting family and friends from other social media accounts over to Steemit, if anyone knows please let us know how that works. STEEMIT platform is by far the best social media network and it just keeps getting better and will be even stronger if we work together by making others aware of it. Thanks to the Founder, the Co-Founder and all the steemit community, let us make this the best community of all time! If you like this post, have ideas on how to invite family and friends from other social media platforms, or just ideas on how we can improve and make our community better; please leave your comments below and follow us. God bless Steemit community.

With love,
FSH

Great idea !

But to flourish in Steem : click on my name and upvote me in my every post and I will upvote your every post,so mutually both will be benefitted and follow. This is the way of prosperity here.

That just might be a good idea yeah!

I dont mind how it is now.... putting on videos and such i mean

or is there something that im missing where people want to be able to put videos directly onto the blockchain?

good idea but maybe we need more places for witness

I think that's a good idea. Copyrighted videos could be a problem though.

Steem already has copyright measures in place for blogs, I assume there could be similar measures with video.

This will be a hot post

Very interesting concept! Being able to host a steem video on our laptop would be a nice addition to everything else we already have. Hopefully they run with this idea and spread the workload so everyone can benefit :)

This just remembered me about some other cryptocurrencies I read about , built on the storage capacity. It would be interesting to have something like this embedded in steemit. Interesting idea, let's see what will happen from here :)

Yes it must certainly possible. I like the idea. boy it would take some serious design I guess. I would love to post them here...

We just need to get ahold of Richard Hendricks' compression algorithm from Pied Piper and we can fix that storage issue with a 100k phones or refrigerators on the network. :)

Good question. I'm sure if not yet, there is a good possibility it could happen in the near future!

You can check out @ENAZWAHSDARB for the best Entrepreneurial content! If you appreciate what you see, you can leave a follow! :)

I hope so it would be a great idea. But steemit is at the begining now. So we have to wait till the community becomes larger. Then I think there will come more functions on steemit.

Nice post..

if they allow peer to peer transmission they may be possible why not ?
