I have been admiring Facebook videos posted by Harlan J. Berk. An old brick and mortor shop in Chicago. The owners who are father and son. Post videos highlighting the history and collectability on ancient coins. When I tell you these coins will blow your mind.... that is putting it lightly.....
The history dates back to 2500+ plus years ago! An amazing crude look that can't be described by words. Majority are found in the ground! The European coins are a hot topic. Due to the popular Roman History.
As I mentioned, I have been admiring the videos. I was at a coin show Friday. I left my house early in my work clothes. To show the wife I was headed to work. Got in my truck and drove one hour to larger local show. Of course, by the end of the show I am at a table and make a connection to the dealers Instagram account I am familar with. We hit it off and he starts showing me an amazing variety of ancient coins. Trusting his evaluations and recommendations. I aquired my very first ancient coin !!!

☝️ Attica, Athens 440-404 BC. Strike and Surface are both 5/5. Athena is the image on the obverse. An owl can be seen on the reverse.
Since these coins are SO old. The lack of production equipment led to so many distorted stamps and images. I have seen a couple of this variety where there is only half an owl. Also, a chunk of the head missing The more quality the strike and condition. The more valuable the coin is.
What got me looking at these coins was how many ancient dealers were actually at this show. I have never seen so many in one room ever! To top that off. Thier tables were always full with buyers looking over what was available!
I am pretty excited about this acquisition. I look forward to the study and research ahead as I grow into the market. Per usual, I enter the market by buying a $1,000 coin. All or nothing right?!?!?!?

A small correction: Julius Caesar was not born at that time. The obverse shows a a helmeted head of Athena, the patron god of Athens.
Ugh man thanks @ronaldoavelino! Sorry I am still learning clearly. Appreciate your knowledge here. Hope all is well!
"History in your hands." There is nothing like an authentic really old coin, could have it been held by Athenian Senator, a Roman General, a Macedonian Noble? The possibilities. A beautiful ancient coin!
The history behind something this old is almost impossible to describe! And you did it well!! @kerrislravenhill
Tetradrachme coins I see often being auctioned. They are the biggest I believe there are. And start at 250 EUR. I still look for a (smaller) Thrace coin with that Rhrace helmet. I do see them but wanna get it for 90 EUR.
I will take a look into those @goldrooster!
Julius freakin’ Caesar! An amazing coin ingots, and in better shape than some cull
Nickels i’ve seen from the modern era.
🤩👍👍
Well I thought it was Julius Caesar! @thedamus... It is the Greek goddess Athena. I always sucked at history. But it still doesn't take away from the condition 🤙
