Derrick Rose Signs With Cleveland

in #steemsports7 years ago

Derrick Rose is now a Cleveland Cavalier. It seemed like only yesterday when Rose and Lebron James were talking smack and facing each other in the playoffs. Rose and James didn't get along and were much closer to being enemies then friends. But now, Rose is his teammate.
Rose signed a one year contract on Monday with Cleveland for $2.1 Million. That is a far cry from the $20 Million he was making as a Chicago Bull a few years ago. He is now only commanding a Veterans Minimum pay. Rose went from the 5th highest paid PG in the NBA to the 55th.
The Cleveland fans and Lebron James are rejoicing. But Chicago Bulls fans are laughing, in hopes that he continues to lose, but in a Cavs uniform. Rose was once the most beloved Chicago Bull, of the post Jordan era. But his injuries, attitude, and gang rape case ruined his reputation in the the city. There were rumors earlier in the week that Rose was going to sign with the Bulls again. The fans were not interested in another reboot in Chicago though. Chicago radio stations, including SportsFan 1330AM with @steemsports podcast contributor, @sportsfanjlogli, fielded tons of calls from fans that wanted nothing to do with him.
So what does all of this mean for the Cleveland Cavs? Trade rumors of Kyrie Irving were swirling for the last several days. Reports are that Irving is sick of playing with Lebron and is demanding a trade. Many are thinking that Lebron was the one that leaked this story as he is hoping for a trade with the Knicks. Irving has listed the Knicks as one of the teams he would play for. That would put Melo in Cleveland and the Big 4 of Lebron, Melo, Rose and Love be running loses in the Eastern Conference. Singing Rose makes trading Irving a much easier possibility.
Kyrie Irving had a fantastic year and playoffs. He averaged over 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the regular season and playoffs. He is ready to stop being Batman’s sidekick, Robin. Irving wants to be THE superstar on a team, similar to what Russell Westbrook is on OKC.
Is the Derrick Rose signing a good one for the Cavs? Should they trade Kyrie? Is Lebron calling all of these shots? Tell us what you think and please follow @steemsports and @scottybuckets. Cheers!

As a Knicks fan, one can only hope Kyrie comes to New York

The signing of Rose makes it seem like they are preparing for Kyries departure

Cleveland needed a backup point guard regardless of if Kyrie stays or goes. Rose is obviously one of the better ones in the league, but I wouldn't be so quick to assume Kyrie will get his wish to leave Cleveland. He has little leverage.

Off topic but its such a shame how Deron Williams went from an NBA All-Star with the Jazz to the NBA Free Agency scrap pick up list...maybe he should have appreciated Jerry Sloan a bit more

As a Knicks fan, i feel sorry for you. Do you happen to be a fan of all three teams in the Triumvirate of Ineptitude? (Mets, Jets & Knicks)

hahah that shit had me dying, those teams have been pathetic for as long as ive been alive

My pops raised me a Yankees and NY Giants fan, but I do know plenty of people who are Mets+Jets fans

Well I'm a youngish Bears Bulls and Whitsox fan, so I certainly can sympathize as of late

This is good for both Rose and the Cavs. Rose gets to be on a team that will contend for a championship. The Cavs get a starting PG that can give them maybe 15 points/game.

as a rose fan I am happy about this signing! I hope that Lbj helps Rose to find his form again. #allin #drose

Hey @steemsports and @scottybuckets! Thank for sharing your take on the NBA and the Cavs.

I think the Rose signing is great considering they got him on a minimum deal. The reality with the Cavs is that they are cash strapped, and anyone that can even contribute at all is a steal. The Cavs did not sign Rose to become the starting PG, but rather to become a great scoring punch off the bench in about 20 MPG. In that role, I think Rose can be really effective.

Ideally, in an Irving trade the Cavs are looking to get back a quality PG (Eric Bledsoe, or Jeff Teague later in December). There are even rumors going around with a potential 3 way trade that sends Beverley to the Cavs. We'll see what happens. It might just be better for them to stand down for now.

Oh by the way, Kyrie actually averaged 25ppg, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds :)

And no, I don't think LBJ is calling the shots, but I love the GM Lebron storyline hahahaha.

Thanks for letting me vent out my basketball thoughts!

If he could stop blowing out his knees..he is an amazing point guard..really don't see how he really fits with cleveland's style of play, but he could turn out to be a great asset.

Great post, Thanks for sharing it. Have a great day - @minimalpris

thanks for the update..
Have a nice day!

This is a great grandfather *** Please follow us please and thank you ***

hello, nice post and upvote

Thanks for the info bro. Hope they could add another superstar.

He can not replace Irving,it is not Rose of 6-7 season ago.

is this for real? we can let go of irving...... just kidding....

i just hope he can fit in the way cleaveland play... anyway he's a great point guard...

What a beast. The guys is in shape too!

It's very interesting to see how this turns out but I don't think it will be good. Rose won't be better than Irving and if they to get Melo it doesn't mean they will be a strong team. We all know how bad Melo is playing.

terrible signing. Needs the ball, can't shoot, and plays less defense than Kyrie. Kyrie can at least buckle down and play D. Rose plays no D whatsoever at any time.

If they manage to bring Melo to the Cavs, then they will officially have a big four on one side of the court...lol. Who is guarding anyone on the other end ;-)
