Portland Should Trade Lillard to the Lakers

The NBA is now dominated by the Golden State Warriors and LeBron James. And the sad truth is it will take two to three years before LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors slow down and stop dominating the league. LeBron will slow down because of his age and the Warriors will not be able to keep their five all-stars after two or more years. There are only few teams who can truly compete against the Warriors and LeBron James and the other teams will have no chance to compete for the championship today. But when the Warriors and James slow down after two to three years, the league will be different and many teams will have a chance to compete. For the Portland Trail Blazers, there is an interesting trade they can make to take advantage of the situation in the NBA today and make a run for the championship in the future. Portland cannot beat a powerhouse team in a 7-game series as we seen in the past playoffs. But the good thing here is they have a talented young core. They just resigned the 23 years old center Jusuf Nurkic to a multi-year contract. They have the 26 years old CJ McCollum who has developed into one of the best shooting guards in the league. And the most important thing is they have Damian Lillard.

The Lakers are now in a position where they have to find another superstar to pair with LeBron James to win it now. James is now 33 and will become 34 at the end of 2018. The Lakers should form a super team now before it becomes too late. Trading for Kawhi Leonard has no progress now and there is no available top-tier free agents now after DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Warriors and Paul George resigned with the Thunder. This is the chance for the Trail Blazers to propose a trade to the Lakers. The trade would likely be sending Damian Lillard to the Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma. The Lakers will accept this trade easily because they will get a top 5 point guard in the league that can help James win it all. Lillard is a player, who can create his own shot, close out games, scores when needed and allow LeBron James to take a rest without getting their team down. LeBron will doesn’t need to carry the entire load in offense if they were able to acquire Dame.

The Lakers will also save and keep either Kuzma or Ingram and also Josh Hart who were improving very well and can provide outside scoring. Another upside of this trade is the Lakers will get rid of Lavar Ball, who has already trash talking new Lakers guard Rajon Rondo calling him “a little backup” at point guard position. This will be a win-win trade for both teams as Portland will have young talent that they can develop for the future when James and the Warriors finally stop dominating the league. Ingram or Kuzma will be a great addition for the Blazers at the 3 position and Lonzo will be a fit at the point guard position. Lonzo is a true point guard who can pass the ball well and can rebound it. He can give all the scoring to CJ McCollum and just take care of running the point. The Lakers will get the talent they needed to help James to contend for a title before James past his prime and Portland will get the young talent they needed for the future. This trade is a win for both teams.

An interesting thought! Dame is big time I wouldn't mind him on the team. But I do have an affinity for the young guys I'm naturally hesitant about parting with them. Also I think lavar ball can get blown out of proportion by the media, I don't think he really bothers the front office or other players as much as people think.

Yeah bro. It's a very risky move. Parting with the young talents is tough. They may regret it someday. But Lebron needs another superstar talent now. Thanks for sharing your ideas man.
