What is this? I found this by a storm channel. I think it's a mushroom, I mean it was still kind of spongy. The weird thing is it hasn't rained around here for weeks. It was loosely planted in the sand, with no mycellium in sight. So strange!

It is a mushroom. my toughts go out to the amanita group. nice find !
It does remind me a lot of an amanita, just none I'd ever seen before. I've never seen one out here before. I found it at the outlet of a conduit, I wonder if maybe it grew underground in the pipe and got washed out? Sometimes it floods in the middle of the night here and you can't tell there was ever rain. Very peculiar.
