RE: Sticking it to The Man (COM 40)

i can't think of anything funny but i'll post something tomorrow. sometimes people find things funny when i don't even try to be. ㅇ_ㅇ

but anyways you probably already know that koreans are obsessed with car brands to impress people they hate. i guess it's the same story everywhere but koreans probably have the strongest desire to show that they're living the life.

another reason i think is that it's just too difficult to charge electric cars. i drove around in one when i was in jeju and it was the most heavily funded place in korea for electric cars. i loved that it had almost zero noise and was smooth as fuck. but man recharging was just too much pain in the ass!

A think a picture of you with your feet up on the table making a shit post is pretty funny. Also your little character fighting giants and flipping them over his shoulders is hilarious.

I never thought Koreans buy brand names to impress people they hate but it all makes sense now. It's kind of like a vendetta. I just thought of it as showing off what a big shot they have become, but I get it now. Kind of like wounded people who become bullies. Sad story. I have been a little naive.

I think electric cars would be better off for commuting in urban areas, but not for touring a large island. Most people commute less than an hour and they can charge at work and at home. But there is a problem hooking your car up if your house is on the thirteenth floor and your car is in the basement parking lot. The Man doesn't want to allow people to recharge at their convenience so will try to make a profit for himself before charging stations come to the place people can use them. It's not like filling up a tank of gas in five minute.

yes you'd be surprised how far koreans would go to 'save face'. i still get amazed sometimes because just when i think we've hit the limit, someone takes it to the next level :)

if recharging becomes as convenient as driving up to a gas station, i'd buy an electric car for sure. and also max distance per charge is still a major issue.

another barrier is government control. it won't allow any other brands other than hyundai to have the biggest market share. so until hyundai somehow comes up with electric cars that can compete against tesla, we won't see mass adoption in korea. not at least for a long time.

that's good to know 😆 thanks 👍
