Hello dear, hope you are enjoying your day at work? I know you are. I have good news for you. She was so eager to hear the news.

Have just being transferred to head our Ontario branch office as the new branch manager and that also comes with a promotion that involves good welfare package.

That was the news I receive some few months ago about my new appointment. And at the same time I had to inform my wife about this good news like we presumed then.

Now the question I ask myself is that; do I still nurse that feeling of happiness? Because if am going to be frank and honest with myself based on what I experienced; then the feeling is not the same anymore. Especially, when my wife, and son are not with me at my new location. This is my confession of the whole scenario; I WANT TO GO HOME, why?

Then wait and let me quickly tell you the story. The reason why I want to go back home might look weird and at the same time humorous (funny) to someone reading this story…… but for me, going back home is a big deal. Now my story……

As a newly wedded couple that just got married with a son, we were so fond of ourselves to the point we thought we cannot do without one another for a day, but the latest development at my place of work changed everything, we just had to agree to the situation of moving to my new place of assignment, because my work called for it.

I know I was going to miss my wife and my son, but there is another thing I was going to miss and that is my wife’s food (her cooking). I love eating her food because I’m not use to ever eating outside my home, not for any reason, and my wife (Sheila) loves this part of me so much that eating her food is one of the ways I express my love to her. My name is Daniels and I am a Civil Engineer. This is the reason why I want to go home.

Immediately my work took me to Ontario, the first thing I could not cope with was food because I cannot cook very well by myself, which therefore means I have to either eat outside or I cook by myself and if not I would starve to death. I am not also good at eating junk food, and that also compounded the entire situation for me.

I remember trying to cook one particular day, and the site of my cooking was so bad that even I could not eat what I cooked with my own hands, and anytime I call my wife to tell her about my present predicament as far as cooking and eating was concern; she has a way of making jest of me. She would ask me question like “Are you enjoying your food?” when she knows I’m not (just been sarcastic), and my answer will be “Yes, but I wouldn’t mind a help from you” then she would burst into laughter. It was that bad.

I also recall going out to eat at a restaurant one cold evening, and the menu I was served was so bad that there was a cockroach in the rice and I was not aware of that.

Well, after eating the food, I ended up at the Hospital, and the doctor’s report reveals that I took some poisonous substance. Poisonous! I was so surprised to hear that from the doctor. Now you can imagine how terrible the situation was for me.

All his wouldn’t have happened if I was at home with my wife or if I know how to cook, which I don’t…. (Smiling)

When I was discharged from the Hospital after two weeks, eating out became a no go area for me. It was a scary times for me. I remember calling Sheila several times to tell her how much have missed home and most especially her cooking. I was so homesick to a point that concentration at the office was so difficult.

After several attempt to balance and move on, I still couldn’t shy away from the fact that have really missed home and my wife’s cooking. It was just the only answer to present situation.
Coincidentally, after 6 months of working there, I was transferred back to my former office as the regional manager… yeah! It was another promotion.

You know what I liked most about this recent development is the fact that, I will be going home to my wife’s good cooking; at least I miss that about home. For me it was victory at last; because I will be going home to my family and still has my work. Don’t you see I have luck at my side? Yeah! Lucky me

Before, I WANT TO GO HOME, but now I AM GOING HOME. That is exactly what I told Sheila when I called to share the new of my coming back home to her. My home sweet home

My name is Daniels, and I’m a Civil Engineer. I love my family and I love my wife’s cooking, and that is the reason why I want to go home.

Good news on your two promotions! Congratulations!

Your story (in my opinion) could use a re-read before you post it.

You seemed to set-up the story, start telling it and then re-set-up the story again.

I think that if you write your stories in a doc file first, you'd have a better chance of re-reading them and making adjustments before hitting Post.

I do understand the excitement in posting. Very often, I have to go back and edit a live post, so you're not alone there.

It's a touching tale of homesickness and missing your lovely family (and that food!) and thank you for taking part!

Thank you Michelle for your comment and observations I really appreciates this so much. I will surely look into this and make amend. I'm not that good at story writing (fiction) but am seriously learning it and building interest in that aspect of writing.

Please would you help to shed more light on what you mean by this? I really want to understand you.

I actually did that, but maybe i was just too excited like you said about making a good impression on my writing. Trust that all this observation will be adequately looked into, and in my next effort it will be better than this . Thanks dear. You are my inspiration.

I am your number fan @optimistdehinde

We have something in common. I want to go home too cuz am just too far from were she is. You made an amazing content my dear friend. We should connect and support each other by following, upvoting each others post. I already upvote your post and following you, please think about that. Thanks and greetings from @ayahlistic

thanks for the comment Sir

I was thoroughly entertained! You had my mouth watering for a taste of your wife’s cooking!

Waoh!Good to know you like this. Such an honor. Like an adage we use to say from where I come from: One of the ways to a man's heart is food. That actually explains the power of food how much more good food. Thanks @beekerst for dropping by.
