Today, I with my mom did up the house, cooked special meals such as meat rolls, chicken, etc and bought some fresh flowers to preparing for seeeing off the Kitchen Gods to the Heaven to make their reports to the Jade Emperor. We hoped for health and good things for all of the members of the family and for everyone, we also hope they forgive for things we have done but uncompletely and not well.

Long time ago Trọng Cao and his wife Thị Nhi are very sad because they had no children. Being really angry beacause something had happened, the the husband wanted his wife out of their home . Although Thị Nhi loved her husband very much, she had to go
Thị Nhi luckily met a man called Phạm Lang. He loved Thị Nhi very much. They lived happily but Thị Nhi could not forget Trong Cao.
As for Trọng Cao, he felt regretful, so he decided to search for Thị Nhi.
He travelled anywhere but he couldn’t find his love. He ran out of his food and he had to go other places to beg for food. One day, being very tired, he knocked on the door but unfortunately he was shocked when he recognized his former wife. The sudden appearance of Trọng Cao let her invite him inside and gave him a good meal. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. It was Phạm Lang. Nhi felt really scared. She hid Trọng Cao under a stack of straw.
Unfortunately, Phạm Lang needed ashes to fertilize his field so he set fire to the straw which Trong Cao was hiring . When the flames spread out, Trọng Cao accepted his fate to be burnt to death to protect Thị Nhi’s virtue. Thị Nhi was distraught because her love for Trong Cao had caused his death. She also threw herself into the flames.
Phạm Lang filled with sorrow, he jumped into the burning fire and died with her.
The Jade Emperor knew this. He was so moved by their devotion and deep love that he decided to help them to live together forever. Using his magic, he changed them into the three hearthstones around the cooking fire, where they became Kitchen Gods and sincethat time, they take care of household affairs
Each year, on the 23rd of the last month of the lunar year, the Kitchen Gods leave the kitchen, they are seen off by each families, and ride on a carp to the heavens to give a report on each family’s doings of the last year.
These day I feel very warm spending time with my family. How about your traditional new year days of your country?
