WE GREW UP || Poem || Literary corner

in #story6 years ago

For a long time we believed that the clouds were cotton.
With candor walking at dawn on the illusion of growing up.
We were told daily that the sky was not blue,
And one day there was nothing to look at.
We also heard many times that there was nothing after the sea,
And soon we stop sail.

We spent days rummaging through old memories, the destiny we think deserves.
Longing for reasons to trust again.
I do not need reasons, if in reason I have no grounds to dream.
We live in a dome full of half-truths,
sooner rather than later ignorance will pay the consequences.

We rest some nights on empty thoughts,
Forgetting sensations, savoring the bitterness left by loneliness.
We are walkers asking for mercy,
those what want to believe again, what need to love again.

Then I understood ... we were no longer kids looking at the sky, counting stars.

We grew up on the verge of despair.
Ignoring our fantasies, forgetting our afternoons of joy
We grew up and in the process we lost our little infinity ...

Because we are as infinite as the universe,
When we learn to use that genuine connection between the mind and the heart.
