Last weekend @katarinazaja and me went for first surfing lessons that company we work for provide in co-operation with surf school. We didn't know what to expect. Everyone is saying that it is a tough sport but you just get hooked by it from the first time you try it.
We woke up to get to the Carcavelos Beach and guess what? Outside, it was raining as hell! Just exactly what we needed... NOT!
I contacted my surf instructor if there is any sense to go there and surf and I got the answer:
"We're having the lesson with the rain. I assume you have an umbrella. You will just need it before you have the wetsuit on, after that it's SURF TIME!!!"
Such an positive attitude! We bought an umbrella... yeah, we didn't have it, and went to train station. The rain stopped immediately after we hopped off the train but the weather was still shitty, and we didn't have that adrenalin/euphoria feeling which I thought that I'll have.
The guys from surf school came, gave us the wetsuits and the surf board and we went on the beach to get warmed up for surfing. Instructor taught basics in theory so we went to the Ocean to present it.
Well... even it was our first time, even that things what we did were not surfing for sure, still the feeling during and after we did it is something that no one can explain. If you have any chance to try it - just go for it! You will see how much you need to work on yourself, how much strength and balance you need to have and most important - to see the power of the Ocean!
We are hooked now, addicted, like they said, and now we need to keep it going, work on our selves and just enjoy.
