Beginners here in steemit like often called minnow or plankton. As we start our journey in blockchain, we make sure that we learn all about this platform. We study its mechanics, ask for the older member, read blogs about the platform and many more. All of those things are necessary to do, just to understand well the platform. There are also challenges that most minnows encounter too. Based on my experiences these are the challenge I've encounter.
First Challenge: Topic
As I started in this platform, I encounter a lot of challenge that test my loyalty and willingness to continue in this blockchain. I encounter difficulty in finding a topic to discussed on my blog. Due to my hectic schedule, working at 8am-5pm and went home at 7:30 in the evening, sometimes I feel tired of thinking what to blog. And this result to lower my encouragement to keep on blogging. Sometimes I'm looking topic in other social media just to have an output everyday. But there comes a time, that I have nothing to post.
Good thing that @surpassinggoogle launches the @steemgigs, where everyone has something to offer. This is like a bank of ideas, wherein you can choose topics to be used or blogging. You can choose any categories you want to make post. Steemgigs is for everybody, talented or not everyone is open in this site. Steemgigs help us to find topics whenever we are drain. This is a great tool for the minnows who are in the stage of learning and understanding the platform.
Second Challenge: Catching the Attention Of Steemians
Making a post is difficult for minnow like me. We are thinking if our output will be notice by some steemians or even whales. We are making post to catch the attention of steemians majority. But it does not just easy as that, we have to make a quality content that mostly done by older member. So we have to make our own version of quality content. I made a lot of attempts, just to catch the attention most of steemians but I fail many times. I know all minnows feels the same as what I feel.
As I continue steeming, all of a sudden one my post suddenly got a high vote value. When I look at the vote list, who vote to make it post earn that much, I was surprised. It was @surpassinggoogle, a well respected and idolized by many steemians. When I see his name in the vote list, I am so flattered because its my first time to be voted by an steemit celebrity. I was used to earn cents in most of my blogs and its like I want to quit on steeming that time. But it suddenly change when @surpassinggoogle came and save me from my exiting stage. I was awaken by his influence, his support to all steemians especially minnows can redirect us to continue and have courage to make an output every now and then.I also hear that there are some steemians who quit on steeming due to lack of support from other steemians. But as long as @surpassinggoogle supports the minnows, we will be motivated to continue and do our best to have a quality content and also encourage our co-minnows to keep on steeming. His support to us minnows and other steemians, boost our confidence in this platform. Everytime I saw @surpassinggoogle supporting my output, I feel very happy and flattered because a man who is considered as father of all steemians and a celebrity in steemit notice my post. It was our pride that we are being voted by a man eith a big heart. The man who support all steemians whatever citizen you are. His act of humanity don't chooses a race, as long as he can help, he will in any possible ways.
Being a minnow or beginner in this platform is not easy as eating nuts. It requires dedication, motivation and courage to be successful. Always keep in mind that people here in steemit will not leave you alone. A lot of hand will extend just to lift you up. I am so glad that I become part of this community. I learn a lot as a steemian and a person. Steemit is not only about money, it also teaches life related ideas. Steemit also share what we need in life to be more successful in our journey. To all minnows like me, dont loss hope, keep going and keep on steeming.

You are so right there with newbies giving up due to not being noticed. Some feel steemians are stingy with upvote even if the content took a lot of stress for them to come up with while some back out. Been a while here on steemit and so far, though have not been upvoted by a whale before, m of the opinion that steemit isn't just about money, it's more about being open to new ideas, meet people all over the world, share ideas and innovations which someday gonna pay you big time. It is often hard to get the attention of people as they are also busy trying to get the attention of other people.
You just have to persevere and keep Steeming.
