Share of men/women for the 30 most common occupations in Switzerland

The data source is the Swiss Statistical Office. Graphics was made with datawrapper. The graphic is part of that article. It is a Swiss adaptation of that graphic about the US

This chart could apply to most western countries, equality or not. But I would still love to see this chart relating to Sweden or another Nordic country who are widely seen as equality frontrunners. That would be fascinating.

A Sweedish Guy commented on that photo that "The difference is actually pretty negligable, and isn't even noticable in everyday life. I've even heard that despite Sweden being one of the 'best' countries for gender equality, there is a bigger gap in the distribution of genders between professional fields"

Equality does not mean 50/50. Equality means equal opportunity. There is nothing preventing or making it harder for a Swiss or Swedish woman to go in to IT than some other field.

Some people would say social pressure and gender roles are obstructive to women in that regard, I'd ask them if they enjoy working with IT.
