Pues si, esto es un libro de scrap. En nuestro aniversario nunca nos regalamos nada, de hecho casi siempre se nos olvida y nos acordamos días o semanas después, entre risas. Aunque aquel año me apeteció dejar un recuerdo gráfico de nuestros primeros momentos. Así que recopilé las fotos más divertidas y entrañables, y en las que estábamos más guapos (¡por supuesto!), y busqué material por casa. Cuando no es un encargo de un cliente, me gusta hacer libros de auténtico scrap, sin comprar nada, aprovechando restos de colecciones de papeles, los cartones de cajas de embalaje, los botones que ruedan por la caja de la costura, los lacitos estrechos que vienen cosidos en las camisetas para que no se caigan de las perchas, los pendientes que se quedan sueltos, encajes de alguna blusa que se rompe, etiquetas bonitas,,...¡hasta algún cartoncito de una bolsita de té! Todo vale para nuestro hobby. Así está hecho este libro, realmente de retales.
Yes, this is a scrapbook. On our anniversary we never treat ourselves to anything, in fact we almost always forget them and we remember them days or weeks later, laughing. But that year I wanted to leave a graphic memory of our first moments. So I collected the funniest and most endearing photos, and the ones in which we looked the prettiest (of course!), and I looked for material at home. When not commissioned by a client, I like to make authentic scrap books, without buying anything, using scraps of paper collections, cardboard from packing boxes, buttons that roll down the sewing box, the narrow ribbons that are sewn onto T-shirts so they don't fall off the hangers, earrings that are left loose, lace from a blouse that breaks, pretty labels,...even a little cardboard from a tea bag! Anything goes for our hobby. That's how this book is made, really from scraps.
Realmente los papeles no fueron la mejor elección, porque son muy finos, y la portada se ha deteriorado con el paso de los años, pero tengo que decir que queda incluso más interesante (si lo hiciese ahora, lo barnizaría para protegerlo). Era una colección de estilo shabby chic, con estampados de flores sobre maderas, en tonos blancos, grises y turquesas (mi color preferido). El enmarque de la foto de la portada recuerdo que lo recorté de una bolsa de papel de una famosa tienda de ropa, que tenía el mismo tono de verde agua que estaba utilizando. Esa foto nos la hizo la hermana de mi marido sin que nos diésemos cuenta, y nos encanta la forma en la que nos miramos.
The papers were not really the best choice, because they are very thin, and the cover has deteriorated over the years, but I have to say that it looks even more interesting (if I did it now, I would varnish it to protect it). It was a shabby chic collection, with floral prints on wood, in shades of white, grey and turquoise (my favourite colour). I remember that I cut out the framing for the cover photo from a paper bag from a famous clothing shop, which was the same shade of aqua green as the one I was using. That photo was taken by my husband's sister without us realising, and we love the way we look at each other.

La selección de fotos es muy variada, porque más que poses o fotos bonitas, se trata de momentos, instantes graciosos, románticos, especiales. Cuando abres el libro, lo primero que ves son dos bebés: él y yo de pequeños. Me gusta pensar que ya "estaba todo escrito" entonces. Después hay besos, ¡muchos besos!, también fotos de cosquillas, de abrazos, de juegos,... y fotos en bodas, en fiestas de disfraces y en ferias.
Y si buscas escondites en el libro, encontrarás impresas en papel decorado y cerrado con un lazo las primeras palabras que tuvimos cuando nos conocimos, antes de que existieran las apps de mensajería instantánea. También puedes descubrir la letra de nuestra canción entre las páginas del álbum.
The selection of photos is very varied, because more than poses or pretty pictures, it is about moments, funny, romantic, special moments. When you open the book, the first thing you see are two babies: him and me when we were little. I like to think that "it was all written down" then. Then there are kisses, lots of kisses, pictures of tickling, cuddling, playing... and pictures at weddings, fancy dress parties and fairs.
And if you look for hiding places in the book, you will find printed on decorated paper and closed with a ribbon the first words we had when we met, before instant messaging apps existed. You can also discover the lyrics of our song between the pages of the album.

Lo bueno de crear tu propio álbum es que conforme vas pegando las fotos, añades etiquetas en las que escribes fechas, comentarios, anécdotas,... Estas están todas escritas a mano. Después me hice con una máquina de escribir antigua y desde entonces los comentarios prefiero hacerlos con ella (no me agrada mucho mi caligrafía).

Tengo que añadir, además, que como herramientas sólo usé las tijeras y la plegadora de hueso. Por eso también este libro me parece tan especial. Scrap genuino, como ya os he comentado. La estructura es muy sencilla, de acordeón: sólo necesitamos cola para ir pegando las páginas al papel previamente plegado. El cierre del libro también es básico: unos lazos en la tapa antes de pegar las guardas.
I have to add that I only used scissors and a bone folder as tools. That's also why this book seems so special to me. Genuine scrapbooking, as I have already told you. The structure is very simple, like an accordion: we only need glue to stick the pages to the previously folded paper. The closing of the book is also basic: some ribbons on the cover before gluing the flyleaves.
