Life as a Grab/Uber Driver

in #teammalaysia7 years ago

I think now in this era, Grab/Uber e-hailing service is quite well known around the globe. This particular industry has helped many drivers as well as created a lot of convenience to users. By now Grab and Uber has been the most commonly used word in our daily life.

After joining as a Grab/Uber driver, I begin to see the hardship faced by taxi drivers and understand what type of life they have been going through.

Recently, I came across a posting on Facebook where a rider complain of several situations which she is dissatisfied of Grab/Uber driver. Among some of her complains are as follows:

  1. CHEAP drivers driving small cars accepting jobs remarks is there that they don't want small cars.

To me, this is an absurb complain. It is not the fault of the driver if they are driving small car. The cars passed the company's requirement. And for the fact that drivers have to take care their acceptance rate and cancellation rate. It is not fair to the drivers if they are forced to ignore nor to cancel a booking. If a bigger car is required of course a higher fare should be paid.

  1. Paying big notes for a very small fare ride.

It was also complained that for a ride of RM3. It was paid using a RM100 note. It is a rather an inconvenience to a driver. How much small notes must a driver bring so that it is enough to give change. What if 10 customers a day do this. Asking the company to ban a driver on this matter is not even logical.

  1. Waiting Time

Waiting Time when a driver has been set to 5min. Some drivers at own initiative would not mind waiting 10min. A rider should have gotten ready when they book. 10mins wait is already waiting too long as we have heard of a phrase "time is money". How much more can we earn from that time if we had not waited.

Even with all this problems happening and we as drivers keep receiving calls from office saying that rider complain we did this we did that, I am still proud to call myself a driver. At least I am earning a decent income and not robbing.

Poor you. I have always admired Grab/Uber drivers... infact I salute them for being brave carrying passengers you don't even know... Whenever I travel to KL, I would call on one particular driver, Mr. Goh. Not only is he humble but he is a courteous and friendly driver... thumbs up to all GRAB/UBER drivers!👍🏻

Lol i think i saw that post online. Sounded like a troll to me.

Those type of riders happens. I have personally encountered before

All our jobs have pros and cons. The important thing is how we manage the downside of our jobs. Stay positive.

Let me continue this rant...
There are passengers that insist on longer routes so they save the toll but the petrol is on the driver's expense.
The promotion codes would mean thay payment comes in sometimes 2 weeks later but expenses and time would have been incurred by the driver.
When some inconsiderate passenger eats or bring really strong smelling food or didnt bathe the driver cant fetch the next passenger until the entire car is ventilated.
Passengers sometimes insist on their own routes and claim that waze is lousy but usually end up a longer and more congested routes.
But once in a while there are good nice people that will share their apples with you or offer you a cup of teh tarik. They made all the differences to a driver.

Ya ya... This is so true .. my worst scenario was tat the rider was all sweaty (4pax) and all raised their armpit to ventilate. Had a half an hr of non breathing session. After they left have open all windows n spray freshener
