It's the Eve of Malaysia's birthday and I'm so glad that we pulled through one of the toughest years in our history.

Though we are still not safe, but we are still a lot better than a lot of places in the world. The COVID19 pandemic was really bad in Malaysia.

In fact, we were the hardest hit of all South East Asian nations at the beginning.

Our nation was losing RM2.6 billion every day when our nation went into lockdown called the Movement Control Order. But that proved to be a success because as of today, we have recorded 0 deaths for many days in a row with just 1 death recorded today.

We are a peaceful nation and we have been through a lot that have seen blood shed in the past.

But we today stand as a nation with all races tolerating and keeping the peace. We are not chicken not to talk about the many injustices of this nation. A lot of us in the country do have our bad experiences where there has been discrimination of sorts.

But we are a people of peace and we feel that it is our duty to keep the peace. Even when we have to suffer the problems we face because of such treatment.

I have heard many stories myself of people close to me not being treated well. But all of them have continued to do their best to make do with the situation and do what they can to still live a good life despite the shortcomings.

We are free to practice any religion we choose, even though our national religion is Islam.

I will always be proud to be Malaysian. I have the chance to learn 3 different languages and be fluent in them. I have had the chance to watch free TV of American shows through my life till I got to high school, when satellite TV was introduced here. We as a nation love a lot of badminton and soccer.

We love to have friends of different races and cultures. We eat all kinds of cuisines from Indian, Chinese and Malay foods.

With all this, we are exposed to many things outside of our own culture, therefore being able to accept things that are foreign to us.

I think that was why we are able to adapt better when we go overseas to study or live.

Malaysia continues to be a caring and loving society, as we keep helping each other in times of trouble.

We love to make new friends with our neighbors from abroad.

We always will continue to be friendly and lend a helping hand when we can.

InsyaAllah, we will continue being a strong and loving nation.

Amen.
