Today I bring you a project that was born from crowdfunding, at the beginning when this funding modality emerged, there was not much to offer, but as time has gone by, different types of developers have been joining this type of pages to upload their projects. One of them is Grove that consists of an artificial ecosystem for interiors, come and join me to know this incredible project.
Grove is a new ecosystem for interiors which has a fish tank and area for planting, works in a very basic way, filters the biological waste from the fish to the planting area that was based on the aquaponic technique, a system widely used in rice fields in China where the waste feeds the wings plants and then the fish take advantage of plant nutrients. All waste is fully reusable.
Aquapony is a sustainable system of production of plants and fish through a closed circuit. That is to say, the biological waste of the fish is filtered so that the remains of nutrients can be used by the plants and again be recirculated to the fish.
When using the biological waste of the fish, keeping the fish tanks totally clean, it is not necessary to be aware because the system regulates everything.
This novel idea was specially conceived to be used in interiors and big cities, where we do not have big spaces to sow, which allows us to sow in the comfort of our home and get enough vegetables to eat in our usual salads. To date, the project that was launched by the Kickstarter crowdfunding site collected the sum of $400,000 from its collaborating members.
It has powerful adjustable LED lights that imitate sunlight, enough to generate the process of photosynthesis, necessary for the reproduction of plants, and as they are adjustable, they are also adjustable, if placed vertically can accelerate the growth of plants we have planted.
This amazing invention can be controlled from our smartphone, thanks to software created by the company, available for iOS. In the program, we will be able to know in which phase of the recycling is the process of taking advantage of the biological waste of the fish, temperature, humidity, PH of the soil.
This is a clear example of the ideas that through the right technology can help us a lot, especially in populated cities where we have little access to planting, and many times we have to buy transgenic products which do not need to say how harmful they are to humans, so with Grove we can plant our own vegetables 100% organic, without chemical fertilizers, which also offer a degree of intoxication in humans.
The company assures that it can offer a daily salad, an example they put to the lettuce, that can get to generate from 2 to 3 bags of salad to the week, which means that also we will save a considerable amount of money taking into account that the organic foods are always more expensive than the processed ones.
The Grove company capped the amount of $100,000 to start and surpassed $400,000 as I mentioned earlier, not bad for an emerging company with an emerging form of financing such as crowdfunding.
