Tech News: Vodafone to Build 4G Network on Moon in 2019

in #technology6 years ago (edited)

The telecom operator Vodafone has partnered with NOKIA to build a 4G network on the moon to aid the project of PTScientists in 2019.

The 4G network using the 1800 MHz band will be used for broadcasting the live HD video feed of the moon surface for the global audience through a space that connects with the PTScientists server at its Mission Control Centre in Berlin. The project will last for 11 days.

The 4G network will connect two Audi quattro rovers with a base station in the Autonomous Landing and Navigation Module(ALINA). The Nokia Bell Labs will create an Ultra Compact Network which will weigh less than 1 kg.

The energy efficient 4G network will set foundation for building communication network that will be useful for future space explorations. The network will enable the two rovers to transfer scientific data and HD videos while approaching the Apollo 17 lunar rover that were used by the last astronauts to walk and explore the Taurus-Littrow valley in 1972.
