I've been a Steemit user for several weeks, but this is the first time I posted anything. I thought about how I wanted to use this channel, but I wasn't sure that I could find an audience here. By day, I am a mental health social worker, working with homeless people. And so I wondered just how I could contribute to this community.
But then I realized that my job requires me to know a little bit about everything. And if I don't know something right away, I research it and then figure out how to explain it so that anyone can understand it.
So where does my dog Spirit fit into all of this?
Three years ago, I adopted an Australian Shepherd, named Spirit. He was born blind, but he's such an awesome dog. As someone who works with homeless people, I don't get paid a lot, and so I adopted him after being assured that he did not need any operations on his eyes or ongoing treatment.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. For some unknown reason, the cataract that used to completely cover his left eye started changing. At first, I thought it was dissolving because I added a supplement to his diet. But then it appeared that it had detached, and it is now floating in his eye. Although he has never given me any indication that he's in pain, I don't think this could be very comfortable.
And so, now I would like to raise some between $3, 000 to $6,000 for his surgery. $3,000 is to remove just the left eye, and $6,000 would be to remove both eyes in one operation.
In order to do that, I would like to raise the funds here on Steemit. So I am opening the comments section to your questions. If you've got a question that you think I can help you with, let me know and I will try to answer it.
