My Favorite Holiday Food & Shrimp Dip

Shrimp Dip

This is sort of a combination post about my favorite holiday foods and a recipe that was passed down for 4 or 5 generations. I am not quite sure how old it is, but I know it's gone from our generation up through my mom and through her mom; my guess is around 80 or 90 years.

So this is my favorite killer setup for all the major holidays, I get it 3 times a year. My wife makes the deviled eggs, the pumpkin pie, real whipped cream, and the shrimp dip. Also gets me egg nog this time of year also, for Thanksgiving and for Christmas.

I thought that since the first of the new year is coming up, this simple pleasing recipe would make a lot of people very happy for the first new day of a brand new year.

This recipe is the base for the creativity and love that you put into it, it's mostly by trial and error to get that perfect taste that you are looking for. This is an excellent base for that.

So, I'm done watching the drool, on with the recipe!!!

3/4 pound of small shrimp
8 oz cream cheese - very soft
6 tablespoons mayo
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon of chopped onion
1 teaspoon Beau Monde seasoning
small amount of fresh chopped parsley

Make sure shrimp is dry
Mix all thoroughly together
Let sit overnight in the fridge

The Great Finale

Serve with Ritz crackers (my preference) or any cracker you want to serve with it. Whip up some deviled eggs, make that apple or pumpkin pie with the whipped cream, and serve it with this decadent shrimp dip. lol

hahahahahaha come on this is freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!
a 90 year old recipe being shared with all of us to enjoy?!?!?!

hahahahahaha YES I'M GOING TO MAKE THE SHRIMP DIP FOR NEW YEARS!!!!!!

i'm so sad that all your treats are gone - but don't worry- New Years is right around the corner, Jamesy! hahahaha

tell your wife she's a wonderful woman for making you these awesome treats hahahah

She said no goodies for the 1st  hahahahahahaha!!!

awwwwwwwwww come on!!!!!!! seriously!?!?!?!?

you need them! hahahahaha

It's not a good idea to read this kind of article while fasting...🧐 Thank you for the recipe! I'll try it out!😀

Hahahahaha, no it's not @emstone!!!

What a festive meal! I think I would love that shrimp. Let me greet you a late Merry Christmas my friend.

No worries, I just hope everything is good where you are at, you made it through the storm pretty well Watersnake @mhel?

It was raining at the beach most of the time 😆. Still did not ruin the vacation.

I heard that it was pretty rough on some of the island or islands, like a typhoon or something?

Yes it was really bad is some provinces. We were very sad for those who were hit the most. The island surfers paradise Siargao was devastated.

Great recipe! I will have to share this with my sister who loves shrimp! Thank you for sharing during the PYPT podcast! Also shared on the Untamed Sarge stream on Twitch.

Awesome Sarge, give her my regards, but do not fail to mention that this recipe is somewhere around 80 or 90 years old!

I want to give that shrimp dip a try!

Doesn't take a lot to make it @dynamicrypto, mostly just mixing the ingredients!

I LOVE the amount of whipped cream you add to your pie :D Real whipped cream is the best!!!

My hubby loves shrimp so I am going to have to copy that recipe and make that for him for New years eve.

Stay healthy and safe my wonderful friend!!

Enjoy it Snook, just remember that it's around 80 or 90 years old as far as I know. It's basically season to taste, everything with my wife is a pinch of this or a pinch of that.
Made with Love lol!

I'm not sure about pumpkin pie with shrimp dip!!! But looks great.

It's all good if you can eat it lol, pumpkin is a vegetable!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Bookmarked :-) one day I'll try this!

And todays pumpkin pie was also the one from that post? Looks fantastisch!
!LUV

Yeah, same pie! Hahahahahahaha, Nein!!!
My wife makes a most beautiful pumpkin pie, most of the time I'd rather eat that than chocolate cake! Yummm!
The shrimp dip is not hard to make, just mix the ingredients and toss in the fridge (this is most important, it has to chill)
Most things taste better the next day as the ingredients have had time to meld together anyways.

hmmm... and will we get the pumkin pie too someday or is it a great family secret? ❤️

Hahahaha, @beeber!!! This never crossed my mind! ❤️

My own photo

So, this is how she makes the pumpkin pie:

Libby"s 100% Pure Pumpkin, 15 ounces (for one 9 inch pie), not the pumpkin pie mix,
Supreme Tradition Pumpkin Pie Spice,
Pillsbury Pie Crust,

Real whipped cream

Just follows the recipe on the can and add an extra egg yolk, the pie crust she uses usually has two 9 inch pie crusts in it but this is only for one crust, just save the other one.

The spice is (roughly starting out) maybe a teaspoon? She says she thinks it's like a couple of teaspoons, but you might want to experiment with that, it's not totally necessary to have it and you can make it just by following the directions on the pumpkin pie can

Most of the time she uses the real whipped cream but every once in a while we use some Cool Whip instead for one reason or another.

The only difference is a microscopically different taste each time, but every one of them is superb.

It looks delicious

It most definitely is, and maybe one day you can try it for yourself, and you will agree with me @kosisochukwu2000!
Sorry for the late reply!

Oh Good heavens this looks incredible! I'll eat it straight out of the bowl! !Luv

Take down that recipe and make them some day @clairemobey!!! This is extremely delicious, the hardest part is waiting till the next day to eat it once it's in the fridge lol!!!
Most sincere apologies for not even seeing this, and for the late reply!!!
