For my live show called 'Crypto Talk Monday' on MSP waves, I interviewed @themarkymark. He's the current #5 witness, creator of the global blacklist API and the owner of buildawhale.
He's also very knowledgeable about the technical side of Steem and we talk a lot about it in this show.
This is a show filled with great info. You will learn a lot about Steem that you as a user you might not realize is going on in the background.
(from 0:00 - 3:40)
The first minutes are filled with talk about the show 'Firefly' and then it really kicks off.
(from 3:40 - 17:50)
We talk about why @themarkymark decides to keep a very low personal profile on Steem.
Then we talk about witness duties and the global blacklist API that he created.
(from 17:50 - 37:30)
We talk a lot about HF21 and HF22 . What went wrong when the blockchain halted? How was it fixed and what happens behind the scenes to get the blockchain up and running again.
What are the limitations of the testnet? Will bugs always happen? What can we do as Steemians to help test for a next HF?
We also talk about MIRA, full nodes, cost reductions, replay times and more.
from 37:30 - end
We talk about the SPS, the funded proposals and the reward pool.
We talk about the trending page and how it looks to the outside world compared to 'our world'.
We talk about combating abuse and @themarkymark shares one of the biggest abuse stories on Steem that he knows.
And lastly, we talk about voting bots.
Enjoy the show!

Amazing one there with @themarkymark of course thanks for getting him to talk about the username Uniqueness and how he came about it really, and I won't lie the man is a plethora of knowledge when it comes to the technical stuff on the Steem blockchain.
I tend to agree More with Mark on something. The truth is the outside world doesn't want to see Post on HF or the node posts or community tribes trending even if it's beneficial to us, it isn't really beneficial to people planning to come in From outside, they want to be entertained, they want to be thrilled and need a reason to be here. I hope with new Steem in place we can come to address this factor because it's really important to a range of adoption. What an amazing show it turned out to be.
@exyle, At this moment main aspect is Price Of Steem because many Projects are in the developmental phase and to make anything a working product needs funds for different aspects. Let's see if current changes boost the Price Of Steem because now burning of Steem is also at place.

I'll have a listen later, they wont take kindly to me doing it at work.
I've always been curious about buildawhale, but I have never been able to wrap my head around how it works or how to get involved. When I was a smaller account it seemed like it was something that was totally out of my league. Now that I have more SP, I just never got around to looking into it again.
There's an absolutely vital piece of value which is not rewarded or captured anywhere on the Steem platform. How many eyeballs does a piece of content gain from off the site?
As various parts of Steem start implementing advertising solutions, this will be increasingly important and it would be great if thought could be given where by Steem front ends can somehow start giving us a handle on this.

Hey. Thanks a lot for your witness vote, I really appreciate it. Wanted to ask if there's a way to get on your show someday? I would like to get the info on Steem Proposals to as many people as possible.
Thanks for doing this quite informative and educative interview. @themarkymark did a great job here answering the technical questions, although the vid stopped playing at a point.
At any rate, the perspectives here are quite valuable. Cheers!
It’s videos like this that gives one a better appreciation for all the effort it takes to keep the blockchain running.
I was not the biggest fan of the hardfork but I hope it puts us in a direction we can build from.
I was not aware MIRA was not this great magical thing it sounded like. It is quite shocking how few full nodes there are. That was sure felt during the downtime with not a lot of options.
Excellent interview.
