Life would be so much easier if everyone just did things my way! I always try and find the simplest way to do something because I hate struggling.
I mean...why struggle if you don't have to?
I am a just a normal person trying my best to do normal things....and I always believe that MY way is the best way. I am overall a very stubborn person, and mostly win because I am usually right :)
This weekend my partner and I had a heated argument about a puzzle that we were building. He wanted to start in the middle and I told him that it is not normal....you start at the edges and you build your way to the middle. His main point in the argument was that it doesn't matter how you build the puzzle, or from which end you build the puzzle, you will eventually finish...and ZAP.... I saw his point. (Mainly because I did not want to argue, and secondly because I just wanted to finish the puzzle)
After he went to sleep I started to think about the fact that I think I am always right. It actually kept me awake for a while, and I came to a clear conclusion that there is in fact no middle way here....No one can be right all the time. My philosophical thoughts led me to think about what is NORMAL and what is considered ABNORMAL.
Can any of these two words even be defined?
According to the dictionary these two words can in fact be defined.
Normal is defined as:
- conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural.
- serving to establish a standard.
And in psychology normal is defined as:
- approximately average in any psychological trait, as intelligence, personality, or emotional adjustment.
- free from any mental disorder; sane.
Abnormal is defined as:
- not normal, average, typical, or usual; deviating from a standard:
- abnormal powers of concentration; an abnormal amount of snow; abnormal behavior.
So who decides what is normal?
I really think that we need to re-think this......
Just because our emotional state seems stable, does that mean that we are normal? We all have our ups and downs ...so does that mean that we are sometimes "normal" and sometimes "abnormal"?
What is right for me, might not be necessarily right for you....
Is normality influenced by culture, religion or a society?
If you are defined as a normal person, does it mean that society accepts you because you act the way that they believe you should act?
Aren't we all just like sheep then? The one following the example of others?
Just because most people are heterosexual, does that mean being gay is abnormal?
Perhaps NORMAL should really be defined as HEALTHY, and ABNORMAL should be defined a UNHEALTHY .... or maybe not.....
If something makes you sad and you feel abnormal it doesn't necessarily make you UNHEALTHY...but if you do something disturbing like killing someone, that makes you UNHEALTHY...at least in my opinion. The fact of the matter is that we are not all the same. We are perfect in our own way. Whether we see ourselves as NORMAL or ABNORMAL we are all just part of the daily struggle to make it through this life.
My advice to everyone is to be as NORMAL as you can be...whether it is ABNORMAL for others. Don't let society rule. Don't let anyone prescribe to you what is wrong and what is right. Be your own person....
ABNORMAL IS SOMETIMES VERY NORMAL.....
“Our lives are mere flashes of light in an infinitely empty universe. In 12 years of education the most important lesson I have learned is that what we see as “normal” living is truly a travesty of our potential. In a society so governed by superficiality, appearances, and petty economics, dreams are more real than anything in the “real world”. Refuse normalcy. Beauty is everywhere, love is endless, and joy bleeds from our everyday existence. Embrace it. I love all of you, all my friends, family, and community. I am ceaselessly grateful from the bottom of my heart for everyone. The only thing I can ask of you is to stay free of materialism. Remember that every day contains a universe of potential; exhaust it. Live and love so immensely that when death comes there is nothing left for him to take. Wealth is love, music, sports, learning, family and freedom. Above all, stay gold.”

Normality is conforming to a standard but as people all have different standards it will be hard to say what is really normal
True... this just drove me crazy LOL! Sometimes I just think about weird things and it bothers me....
And standards change which makes it even more confounding!
Yes... these days I don't even have an idea of what is acceptable..😂 because everything is acceptable!
Being normal is just boring =P There is enough people trying to fit into this "normality".... Let's be the deviation and enjoy every second of this ride =)
Trying my best here! 😁 I am possibly very abnormal! 😉
