If humanity ever reaches world peace, it would begin in Taizé, a small village on a hill, in Burgundy, France. Taizé is an ecumenical and monastic community founded by Roger Shutz in the 1940’s as a place of reconcilliation and shelter for refugees scaping from the horrors of WWII.
Nowadays , thousands of young people and adults from all over the world visit the place in search of friendship, peace, answers and fellowship. The place is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and small villages which simplicity and beauty will take your breath away.
The community is a contrast between silence and music, contemplative solitude and friendship.

If someone described this place to you, it wouldn’t catch your attention right away ,it would be something like: "is a place of silence where you pray and sing 3 times a day with a bunch of strangers ” but the place is so much more than that,you will meet a lot of people from all over the world, many of them will become your friends for a lifetime,the place is perfect to walk around the hills of burgundy and get to know the surronding villlages, there are 3 common prayer services at the church of Reconciliation, which are famous for two things , its pauses for you to pray or meditate in absolute silence and beautiful music that sounds like something you would hear at the gates of heaven, simple lyrics about love ,peace and joy in different languages will make you feel included.
Its not all praying at Taizé,you can go to Oyak , a small café where you can meet new people, sing and dance at the sound of instruments from all over the world, played by your fellow pilgrims or just talk and drink something .
You cannot describe the atmosphere of this place with one post, it is really an experience you should consider even if you are not religious, you don’t need to be religious to enjoy this place, the peaceful and respectful culture of the community is inviting to atheist,agnostics or people from other religions which visit Taize just to take a time off from the hectic noise of the world,to rest,think and meditate.
