Just got back from a pretty awesome weekend trip to the Polish Silesian region. It's an area that is shared by both Poland and Czechia. They speak different languages; Czech and Polish, but it seems the dialects of their respective languages are intelligible to each other such that, as I witnessed, they can speak to each other with no problem. People in other parts of Poland or Czechia, in the capital cities for example, might struggle with the same feat apparently.
Anyhow we were in a cottage in the mountains. It was my friend's birthday and he was turning a new decade. His entire family was there along with friends. The cottage was more like a mansion actually with 13 rooms, some large and ensuite.
I flew into Katowice, the nearest airport to the place we were, which is only two hours away from London. He might me and others at the airport with a van and drove us to the accommodation up in the mountains, which took about an hour. It was right on the Czech border, such that we could see into the Czech side of Silesia. In fact, my phone kept reconnecting and welcoming me to the "Czech Republic" several times during our hike to the top of one of the mountains.
The weather was kind, even if a little rainy, and it was a refreshing time in nature.

Oh I had no idea. Krakow is not too far away. Would have been nice to be back there, I really enjoyed that city during the Hivefest there
