Train journeys serenity

in #travel6 years ago

I always loved train journeys maybe for that feeling of serenity they are accompanied.
There's something nice in being cut of from the world, that seems to be in constant hustle, while in the train the only screen to watch is window to nature and the time is only now.
It's almost a meditation sitting there and watching everchanging movie of neverending fields, villages and towns that are on the program :)
In open carriage you find yourself with the dozens of life topics circling around as overheard pieces of conversations at the background. Not because it's a deliberate desire to hear its just words surround you and one can't help be a part of those narratives. Somebody is going to work, somebody is going to study, someone is going to buy a car. Usual people's stories. But it's still at the background and maybe not that important as a view from the window.

Going through the fields I can so easily imagine that smell of the grass flavored with wormwood, the aroma known from childhood. Sometimes I imagine myself on the meadow lying in fragnant herbs, watching bees busy with violet blooming thistle. Maybe just missing summer while spring is still not in rush to give its warm. In Ukraine is still everything a bit grey and gloomy while winter is arguing with spring as for its domain.
When I was small I played a game to myself called "remember a moment". These moments of feeling "oneness" with nature were so beautiful that I wanted to keep them in my memory to come back there to that bappyness again.
One of the moments is from the woods when the green crowns looked almost golden in the rays of midday sun. Sunlight and wind were playing with leaves making the experience of being in the forest quite magical.
Another memory is the song of the green sea of cornfield in the wind. I remember sitting in the tree house that we made with cousins on old acacia looking down to those slender ranks of young corn flexing their leaves muscles in sunlight. It felt like a anthem of youth, summer and penetrating beauty.
These moments of uniting with glory of nature I will always keep.
And they revive on this long 18 hours train ride from East to West of Ukraine :)
