Always wanted to go Japan. This once in a life time opportunity came about because I have son Japan, teach conversational English to students of all ages.

My aim was to experience Japan and meet its people. With this in mind, I decided to book hostels and apartments, rather than hotels (unless there was no other option)

I book a flight from Leeds – UK to Schiphol Airport – Amsterdam (1 Hour Flight) and then connecting to flight to Osaka.

This was exciting in itself as I really love flying. Only problem was no window seats as these are a premium these days. However, there was plenty of entertainment, regular food and drinks to pass the time of the 15hour long hall to Japan.

1. Pre-purchased​ a Japan rail pass​ (this turned out to be the best investment ever) as I could travel on bullet trains and many times as I liked.
2. On arrival I also purchased a local train card – its like a UK ostercard for the London underground/bus

Landing in Osaka, I was immediately impressed with the professional efficiency of the staff.

I was went to the railway station that was easily accessible from the airport. Here I had absolutely no idea what to do, I actually was in a state of confusion, because of the language and busy station. After about 20 minutes I got my bearings and found the appropriate desk to go to validate my railpass and get directions to my hostel in Minoo (map)

Minoo Park 箕面公園

After getting there I booked in went to explore Minoo Park because its one of the oldest parks in Japan. This park is marketed as a tranquil healing therapy park. Its certainly lived up to its name. I walked on a gentle hill taking in the spender of the buildings, forest and waterfalls. (pics)

I walk up you will come across the stunning Ryuanji Temple, Its been around since 658AD. There are maps in English clearly showing different routes to explore.

access - how to get to Minoo Park
The easiest way I found to get to Minoo Park is to use Hankyu Railway from downtown Osaka. Taking the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Umeda Station to Ishibashi station. From here take the Hankyu Minoh Line to the end of the line at Minoh Station. From outside the station, the 10-minute​ walk to the start of the trails is clearly signposted.
Another option get to Senri-ChuoStation​n on the Midosuji Line. From here catch bus number 19 or 20 to Minoo Station

After the visit to the park I walked back to Minoo town and decided to have a local beer. ( Just a few shots of people and scenery)
