That time I tried to go surfing in Kerala, India

in #travel7 years ago

In February over Tet (Vietnamese New Year) my best friend and I decided that it would be an amazing idea to go surfing for a week in India .Even though we had both lived in Australia on the Gold Coast for 15 years neither of us had bothered to surf before. ( we did attempt it one time in Bali and got destroyed). So I packed my bag, flew to Singapore to met her and we then made the trek to India.

It was amazing. We stayed in Varkala, a tiny coastal town in Kerala, India. It was stupid beautiful and for a week we attempted to surf, did yoga, swam in the beach and ate amazing food. For anyone that is thinking of visiting India. Go to Varkala, eat Thali, surf, swim and just relax.

Just a casual river cruise after being at a temple.

I'm pretty happy to be at the beach.

How many surfboards do you need to surf?

It looks incredible @huia. Thanks for sharing such great pictures.

Thanks it was amazing! I even managed to catch a wave. Follow me if you want to see more trips of me and my friends travelling. Next stop... Portugal and France.

Congrats on catching a wave. I used to surf with my brother out in Santa Cruz, CA all through the winter. I was never very good, but he was pretty great. Just followed you.

Thanks, yeah its a lot harder than it looks but I was pretty proud of myself! I followed you too.

Great content. Seems like a really fun time!
