Bull Fight : Indian style

in #travel7 years ago

Hi steemians,
India carries lots of different tradition in every region and religion. Some appears to be calm but others are breath taking. But each one of them has a long a life and patriarchy takes full responsibility to keep them never ending.
Every year after Diwali (major Hindu festival in India) majorly in central India their are Bull (male buffalo) Fight *organised by people of certain castes majorly by yadav 's, choudhry's etc. Earlier these fights were organised by local administration but in recent years with increasing interference of NGO's and Groups who work against animal violence, these fights are organised by bull owner themselves on their personal land.

In this event crowd of 2 to 3 thousand people visit this event and all the crowd is mainly of men. All the owners name their with macho names from popular culture in India (like cinema, politics). Earlier all the peoples were allowed have fight even from different background (especially cast or religion). But wining and losing in fights leads to grudge among different which leads to fight between bull owners, which has even led to murders in some cases. So nowadays only people of a same family are allowed to have buffalo fight among themselves.

As you can see in above video after fight is finished only way to control buffalo is to get hold of his nose pin. Once nose pin is held by owner bull calm down.

In my next post will share some my experience in crowd in this breath taking event and especially about upbringing of these bull fighters (their diet, breed etc.)

Thanks
