Italy post series continues, next:
Bolsena
As I told in my previous post, we also had the opportunity to travel to other cities and little towns while we lived in Montefiascone, Italy. One those places was beautiful Bolsena.
Bolsena is a small town close Montefiascone. The narrow streets between medieval stone buildings made you feel like you traveled few hundred years back in time and could meet a knight or The Lady of the castle at any moment. Walking there made me wish I would have been able to play there as a kid. It would have been such a nice surrounding for some sword- or roleplay. Or just hide and seek. I found my inner child through that wonderful place and the exitement it caused.
When we climbed up to the highest spot the views were just amazing. You could see the cityscape, the glittering lake Bolsena and beyond! At some points the little streets were super worn and slippery, but it's definitely worth the climb to go up there.
The streets were actually so bad, that some of them were like slides. I wonder how the heck people survive there when the temperature drops, or when it rains, and the roads turn (even more) slippery?! And it looked like the place is mostly inhabited by elders, just like so many of these little towns in the countryside of Italy. How do they move from a to b there?
There were some restaurants and cafes all around the small city center, but as usually in Italy, they were closed for couple of hours in the afternoon (maybe from about 2 to 5.30 p.m. if remember correctly). So remember to eat a good lunch early, or prepare to starve because the next chance for food is basically in the evening.. We found literally only one pizzeria, which was open and otherwise the city was dead for a while. We were recommended a restaurant called "La sorgenti osteria", but unfortunately it was closed at that day.
One of the best things in this town is that the beautiful Lake Bolsena is located with in walking distance. It's about 1km from the old town, so it was easy to go to the beach and relax when you got tired of walking up and down in the city town center. The beach was clean and the water clear; what more could one hope for? There was also some beach bars and restaurants there, so you could enjoy a glass of wine or a cooling beer while admiring the waterfront.
I admired the views while my better half went dipping.
And then it was my turn tobe photographedswim. Happy me!
The most common way of traveling in Italy is probably by bus. People use trains as well, but many of them prefer buses since they are a lot tidier and that way more comfortable. Bolsena was quite close to Montefiascone, so for us the bus was the most convenient vehicle. It was super cheap too; the tickets back and forth cost only about 2 euros per person. Basically nothing.
Although Bolsena is small, it's interesting and appealing. It's a place where we could even imagine ourselves spending a short(ish) vacation. There is no so much shopping opportunities in there, or other activities as far as we know. And to be honest, it's not the liveliest city by any means, but we enjoyed it.

You can simply write your article without any of that.

You can remove that and simply add a line break between paragraphs by pressing "enter" twice. It's as simple as that.

In a way yes, there's some similarities, but it's not so fancy and definitely not so full of all those high class shops.. And it's very small compared to Florence.
