Exceptionally Beautiful city- Trip to Venice

in #travel6 years ago

Venice has been the city of gondolas, enchantment and amusement oozing out beautiful shadows on one’s mind. The most beautiful man made city known by names like ‘’city of canals’’ ‘’city of masks’’ ‘’city of water’’ ‘’floating city’’. Though it’s considered as ancient Roman city but its origins are yet unknown. Full of exquisite monuments and landmarks, it has been the dream destination for the tourists all over the world.

We explored local shops before catching the ferry. People bargained and shopkeepers were so nice and friendly. There were clothes, beautiful colored masks and food items.

I was standing and looking at some interesting items in the shops.  My hat was the first purchase as the weather was sunny and warm.

We reached in the afternoon and witnessed some beautiful pre-historic monuments along the sea shore. These monuments have been preserved so they are in good condition and extremely charming. Basilica di San Marco erected on a Greek cross plan is a delight to the eyes.

Grand Canal is the main attraction that runs through the city and there are almost hundred palaces on the bank of the canal that are stunning. The basic movement is concentrated along the canal and there are only four bridges namely Rialto Bridge, Academy Bridge, Scalzi Bridge and the bridge of constitution.

We were awed by the beauty of the city with extraordinary architecture, fine mosaics and gold statues. The walk through the streets was an amazing experience, full of small stores selling paintings and Murano glass items. We got the opportunity to visit Murano glass factory where we actually saw making of beautiful glass statues. It was unbelievable to see how hot melted glass formed the shape of horse and many other things. There was variety of things from home decor and jewelry pieces that could be shopped from there.

No trip to Venice could be completed without taking Gondola ride. So we decided to go on a ride and explore the city. Though Gondola ride is little on expensive side but it’s totally worth it.

Gondolas cruise in Venice is like travelling by hansom cab in New York’s central park and they were available throughout the main tourist areas from Tronchetto and piazzale Roma (where motorist park their cars) to Rialto bridge area, the doge’s palace and busy pedestrian crossing along the secondary canals also.

Gondola ride was one of a kind experience. The luxurious gondola floats through the entire city and we got closer look at the beautiful houses. It was gorgeous & an exceptional experience to witness something like this where people commute through boats and water taxis.

A peaceful, calm ride on gondola was a dream come true and worth every penny.

Plan a trip to Venice because it’s an exceptional city that offers exquisite views with an amazing experience. I felt so relaxed and at peace after visiting there and can’t wait to get there again.
Don’t forget to take away your gelato from the local shops across streets while enjoying magnificent views of this floating city 
