Just Another Day In The City

Drive

I went for a walk with my girlfriend in Kuching city last few weeks from Kota Samarahan. It took approximately 40 - 50 mins drive not to mention traffic jammed on peak hour would take us an hour plus reach the city. On our way to the city, there was a crowd gathering on the street that causes our schedule to be delayed. I have forgotten that on that day (8 May 2018) was Malaysian General Election. I had a full facepalm for that.

Sight Seeing

Let's skip the trouble.....

We are planning to go for a sightseeing at Waterfront walkway which is said to be a famous place for tourist. The place offers cosmopolitan vibes. During the night, we can enjoy the scenic views of the Astana that appears to be just on the other side of the river.

The cold breeze weather is very nice for us to walk alongside the river and enjoy the view. The place is well maintained and has a friendly environment.

Food Hunting

There is a lot of places where we can try varieties of delicious food. As we walk next to the food market, we decided to try SHELLOUT. It has lots type of seafood and vegetables mixed together in one place with a special homemade sauce. We really enjoyed the food until there is nothing left. But we are not done yet. A few minutes walk, to look for a desert and we finally found it. They call it the Ice Cream Gula Apong. I'm not sure what they use to make it but it tastes more like vanilla and "Gula Apong" on top that makes the taste yummier.

Let's take our journey aside and talk a bit about the restaurant and food market. Some restaurant and food market there mostly focus more on locals and western but each of it serve great food. Opsy sorry i lied, actually, to be honest, not all of them serve great food. If you are lucky, then you will spend your day dreaming about it and if you don't you might get disappointed and go for more food hunt.

Wow Talent

Legs are getting tired and we seat nearby the bay to rest for a while.

Before I forget to mention about the amazing street performers which are mostly performed by the locals. They respond to audience request on any cover music. They are talented, no doubt about it when I and my girlfriend just enjoy the mesmerizing voice sang by the man known as Abang Jo. He deserves a big tip for that.

The Day is Getting Late but it's Not Over

It is a tiring day walking around but at least we are satisfied. Our last destination is the newly constructed bridge called "Jambatan Darul Hana". The locals called it as Golden Bridge with the shape S from above. This unique bridge would surge the name of Sarawak state as capital.

The bridge is strictly secure by 24-hour shift security to ensure the safety of the people and to make sure the place is clean.

We didn't expect it to be so beautiful. We can see the whole Waterfront walkway from the bridge. As we walk on the bridge, we have experienced a shaky motion which is caused by the material used to construct the bridge is mostly steel wire, metal and plate of concrete that is attached as the walking path. (of course, I don't know the whole material, but at least I tried XD). And again it is a tiring day but it is all worth-ed.
