After arriving in Japan and getting a few hours of sleep, we then took the 6am train towards Kobe. The trip from our AirBnB near Hatsudai station until Shin-Kobe station took almost 5 hours all in all. But we're happy to have experienced riding a Shinkansen Bullet train.

In Kobe, we searched for a Kobe Beef restaurant. If you don't know what Kobe Beef is; Kobe Beef is a brand name for the world's highest quality beef produced only from Hyogo Prefecture's Tajima cattle that have met strict standards regarding meat quality. If we remember correctly, the cows are being fed with special food and beer...yes, BEER...and they are being massaged as well...MASSAGED!

To be honest, there's quiet a few restaurants who offer Kobe Beef. But we recommend to do your own research to choose the right restaurant for you. We've decided to go to one of the Mouriya restaurants. There are several ones in the city center.

There are lunch menu sets from around $35 up to $160. Of course we all took the Prime Kobe Beef to maximize the experience. We all opted for a thicker cut of the Sirloin for a melty taste.

The lunch menu set included the beef of your choice, soup, salad, rice, grilled vegetables and tea.

Was it the best beef/meat we've ever had? Was it worth the $160 we have spent per person? YES, it definitely was the best we've ever had and tasted!!! The meat was sooooo soft, juciy, fatty and had sooo much flavour!

Kobe was a short but wonderful experience! Thank you very much! We didn't stay long as we headed towards Kyoto, but we will for sure always remember or one in a lifetime lunch stop over in Kobe for our first time Kobe Beef experience :)

It would be a funny job to be a cow massager! I've never really liked the taste of beef, but this looks like quite the experience.

Hahaha yeah would be a funny job. Sometimes I also don't like the taste of beef but this one is out of this world :)

Ok :)

I went to Kobe while I was there but didn't try the beef due to lack of funds. I found that most Japanese beef is of good quality anyways though. Please tell me you didn't just get that tiny piece? lol

Hahhaha. No, those 3 thick cuts you see was shared for 6 people. The cook in front of you gave you one piece after another, always cooked to perfection. And he instructed us sometimes on how to eat it and gave some explanation. The first and last piece only with salt, sometimes with wasabi, sometimes with a garlic chip.
Yeah the prices were hefty but to be honest, we budgetet like $200 per person from the beginning, before we even went to Kobe ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Sounds like an experience in itself. That was smart of you guys to budget. I will be doing that the next time I go! Looking forward to your next Japan post.

Thaaank you :) tag us whenever you'll have it :) would be happy to read about your experience hehehe
