Both @blueorgy and me, @martibis have been incredibly busy in real life. But we haven't forgotten our beloved Steemit Worldmap! With the map growing at such an incredible pace and time a bit short on our hands, we're looking for a few awesome people, to help us out in the near future! There are three ways you can help to improve the Steemit Worldmap even more! Want to give us a hand?
#1 Add your posts to the map
We already have an amazing amount of posts on the map, considering we have only been live for about three weeks, but my vision for the map is to literally be able to go to any place on the map and have some stories pop up. How amazing wouldn't that be?! So if by any chance you see a cool place on the map, where there isn't a marker yet and you've been there: make an awesome post and add it to the map!
For those who are just tuning in now, to add a post to the map add the following somewhere in your post: !steemitworldmap 0 lat 0 long A description d3scr
Change the 0 before the lat and long to the respective latitude and longitude of your post (you can find these on google maps) and change "A description" to a description you find fitting! Make sure to end it with d3scr
#2 Help us select daily posts
If we can find 10 people to help us select the three best daily posts, we have the greenlight from @Aggroed to start a channel in the PAL discord group. So if you want to have a say in what you believe are the best posts on the Steemit Worldmap, leave a comment here saying you support a Steemit Worldmap channel! We will start the post promotion the first of October!
Rules for selecting a post:
- Has to be added on the Steemit Worldmap less than 24 hours ago.
- Has to have the travel tag (we want to focus on one subject)
- Has to be less than 4 days old
- Can not be your own post
If you really believe your own post to be awesome, send it to me in a DM on discord
We will make a daily post, listing what we believe are the three best posts that were added to the Steemit Worldmap at that given day! These posts will be upvoted by @steemitworldmap!
#3 Delegate
I will reward the authors of the three best daily posts with an upvote from the @steemitworldmap account.
As I'm new to Steemit I am still building up voting power! So any delegations would definitely be a welcome addition!
Your delegation will be used for:
- Upvoting the three best daily posts added on the Steemit Worldmap to help amazing authors!
- Upvoting the one daily post from @steemitworldmap so it gets more traction
The top 20 delegators will be mentioned at the end of every post, as this kind of trust and support is amazing and it deserves some recognition!

1. Go to the Witness Voting Page on Steemit.com
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the vote box
3. Type (blueorgy) in the box and click vote.

Just thinking is it possible to convert the pin details to a clickable link that takes people to the world map? I tried doing that the normal way but it doesn't work.
Do you mean the little code you put in your text?
If yes, that wouldn't be possible before your post is made, as that is what we use to make the post in the first place (so if you make it a link, before it's on the map it'll cause problems).
What should work (I haven't tried it yet) is editing it afterwards, putting the code between square brackets like these: [] and immediately follow it up with normal brackets containing the post link you should have gotten from the comment! I'm not sure if it will work, but I'd guess it would and should have the desired effect!
Yes that would work, but I was just thinking if there was anyway to make the code look 'uncode' if you know what I mean ^_^
I know what you mean, it would be good, and possible, but it's just a bit risky, as it would have to be unique, for example, at the start we just started it with Steemitworldmap instead of !steemitworldmap, but if someone would type Steemitworldmap somewhere in their post it would trigger the bot, even if they had mentioned it without meaning to add a post to the map!
I do like the @steemitworldmap :D We (@osm0sis) have submitted over 10 articles with the map on already!

Oh my @unityeagle check this out! We were just talking about an idea like this and the community continues to amaze me in the creativity. I line in New Mexico and have some awesome photos of this area I will start posting them up with stories of this part of the globe.

This is a great idea! It's always nice to see different visualizations of posts especially if you are interested in travel! The "map view" gives you more room to explore!

Somehow I missed your comment here! Yes, that was the idea, anyone using the map is able to just travel around on the map and read awesome stories from all over the world!
I think developer-wise we're good at the moment, but we're always open for suggestions (I haven't studied UI/UX) so that for me so far is a bit of a "how would I like it?"-kind of thing, haha!
I saw the post you added to the map earlier and added it to the Editors Choice map straight away, haha!

Heya, it's definitely still possible to add it to the map (as long as you can edit your post you can)! At the moment we're having some technical issues though, so it might not show up immediately!
