Being mainly a travel day on our trip, most of the time was spent in our minibus heading from Budapest to the Cruation town of Osijek. Philip, our tour leader was born in Osijek, yhus in the next couple of days his personal tid bits of information about the place were an added bonus.
Once we arrived in town, our first port of call was to our guesthouse/hotel to check in and deposit our luggage in our assigned rooms. It was was like stepping back in time, as the rooms, even though very comfortable were definitely from a era gone by. Well, we were staying in the old town section.
Unce we had got ourselfs settled snd organised , we all met downstairs to meet our hosts. I cannot remember their names but they were gracious and friendly. After giving us a rundown of the history of the guesthouse and the local precinct we wre treated to some platters of fresh locally produced snacks of meats and cheeses. The food was consumed while our hosts gave us a rundown of where to produce came from as well as asummary of the local families involved. All very interesting.
When all the delicious snacks had been consumed and our energy levels restored, it was time to get our kegs into gear and do some exploring of the city. In my next post I will show some of the sights oround the Old Osijek part of town.
