What To Do On Long Flights ?

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemit friends,

You might notice that i have been MIA for a couple of weeks. I have took time off and traveled for a bit. I feel that sometimes you just need to take a break to refresh your perspective and rejuvenate you soul. Now i am back to routine while a little busy with my acting career, nevertheless will try to do posts and share with my steemit family.

Nowadays, there are long flights half way round the earth. I recently travel from Bangkok to La which took approximately 20 to arrival. These flights can get mundane and exhausting if you do not prepare well for them, below are a few tips:

Take A Good Rest Before Your Flight

If you want an awesome flying experience you will enjoy, take a good long nap. Even better, set your clock to be in sync with the place you are visiting. Resting revitalizes your body, and this is very important because air travel can take a real toll on you. Good rest before and during the flight will ensure that when you get to your destination you feel great and awesome. There's nothing worst than landing to your destination while feeling like you are catching a cold or grumpy due to lack of sleep.

If Possible, Find Out If You Can Change Your Seat

Not all of us can afford to upgrade to either business or premium. Most airlines want to put as many people as they can in to the economy class in an aim to reduce flight costs. Flying for a long trip in such conditions can make you feel tired and frustrated even before reaching your final destination. If the flight isn't full, find out it there's other seat in the back of the plane for you to have more space or even lay down if possible.

Make Yourself As Comfortable As Possible

Always put your bag above and not under your feet. This will give your feet enough space to move around and stretch. You can also remove your shoes, this promotes blood circulation to your feet,
just make sure your feet do not stink. Have a neck support pillow and ear plugs if that makes you more comfortable and rest better.

Put On Something Warm

Carry a jacket, scarf, and some nice thick socks. Keep in mind that airplanes can get freezing and not every airline has blankets. You can imagine yourself on a ten-hour flight across the other half of the earth freezing cold, it is not a nice experience. The best way to counter this is to always use a checklist as you pack. Also keep your body in a good temperature. In my case, I know i get annoyed when my feet gets cold so i always try to keep that part covered.

Always Take Your Time As You Pack

Make sure you pack all the items, but also remember to include a few things that will enhance your comfort. For example, if you are planning to take a nap throughout the flight, carry shades for your
eyes. You can also carry headphones capable of noise cancellation. For an avid reader a novel or a kindle will do the trick. You can also take time and download podcasts you will listen to during the flight.

Get Entertained

Nowadays, planes come with screens as a standard feature, take advantage of this and keep yourself occupied. You may have to spend a little more for entertainment so plan yourself for this prior
to the flight, it is worth every coin. Note that planes do not have unlimited internet, so you can find alternative ways to keep yourself entertained. Wi-Fi and free internet present with numerous distractions, take some leverage of this distraction-free flight time and study a book.

Always Eat And Drink Something Before Your Flight

Eat a starchy meal, rich in carbohydrates. When your body metabolizes he carbohydrates, it will use the glucose to generate heat and energy. This will ease the jet lag on you once you arrive at
your destination. Another tip is to always say hydrated at all times. You can talk to the flight attendants to sort you out, remember to bring your own water bottle. Avoid too much caffeine and alcoholic drinks they will make you feel exhausted once you land.

Clean Yourself Up

Just before landing go to the bathroom and freshen up. You can clean your teeth, your face, and swap into a clean shirt. This will make you feel whole and fresh once you arrive to your destination.

I know you exhausted with long flight, for me just 5-6 hrs made me feel bad. Hope you’re ok.
Have a save flight 💕

Thank you so much !! good to be back <3

Now we have non-stop flight from Perth to London and it's 17 hours long. I don't like long flights. Good article.

nice view and very happy to see it @jhoni likes, thanks for sharing @suerisue

welcome back. I have not had a long flight for a long time but jetlag is a bummer. I try to stay awake if I'm to reach the destination at night and try to sleep when I'm to reach the destination in day.

Fortunately this time has been good for me !! No real after pain :)

That's good.

One more thing that i would do on long flight, that is read your interesting article and watch your insta stories, because i follow your steemit and instagram account, hehe 😁

Welcome back!

I see you have been off travelling since sometime. Glad to have you back. I usually sleep and sleep and sleep during a flight. Great tips though.

Oh, how I hate those long flights... anything up to 6 hours is fun but multiple stops and 20-hour flights are just too much! Great round up of things to do though! Have a great day. Tomas

Thank you Tomas !! Good to be back, I think i am able to sleep during the whole flight mostly and that's what makes it less painful for me :)

How was SF?
