Wat Chamthewi is a famous and beautiful ancient temple which is more than a thousand years old.

It's a unique temple symbol and became a model for Lanna Thai architecture in ancient times as well.

The pagoda, named “Suwana Chedi Junkrot” or local people call it “Chedi Kukut”, was built in the style of Bodh Gaya in India which has a square shape.

Each side has 15 Buddha statues, for a total of 60. It’s prominently enshrined within the temple.

Inside the pagoda is the ashes of Queen Chamdevi, the first King of Nakhon Hariphunchai or Muang Lamphun at present.

Besides, there is also beautiful Wiharn which has magnificent murals inside and it is the enshrined Buddha statue.

On the right side of the Wiharn is the Rattana Chedi or Octagonal Chedi.

Each side has a total of 3 standing Buddha statues.

It is considered another sacred object that people come to pay homage to when visiting Wat Chamthewi.
