Wat Huay Pla Kang, an amazing temple in Chiang Rai

in #travel2 years ago

If you still remember, I posted about this temple a long time ago. Today, I would like to add new photos and some interesting information for you.

Wat Huay Pla Kang is situated on the top of the mountain in Chiang Rai province, in the North of Thailand.

The temple is mixed between Lanna and Chinese cultures.

The chedi is magnificent with Chinese architecture. It has 9 stories tall with a pyramid shape in bright colors. The top has a bell shape in golden color.

In the meantime, the white Viharn is built in Lanna style. There are two amazing giant white Nagas on both sides of the stairs.

The statue of the white Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, is very huge and amazing.

You can go to the top by elevator. The view from there is wonderful and you will see some giant dragons on both sides of the stairs.

The Nagas were created by our beliefs whereas the dragons were created by Chinese beliefs.

All of them look elegant and powerful.

Wat Huay Pla Kang is worth a visit indeed.

Thailand has so many fascinating temple and statues. Nice to see them all so well maintained. Many of indonesian temples were destroyed by earthquake, even by man made disaster sometimes.

Thanks so much for your nice comment and for stopping by. I'm very happy that you like Thai temples and statues. I also love Indonesian temples, too. They are magnificent, especially the one on the mountain that you shared in your old post.

Yes, we are lucky that we seldom have earthquakes here in Thailand. The earthquakes that had occurred in the past hadn't seriously destroyed the temples or statues. I'm sorry to know that many Indonesian temples were destroyed by earthquakes and sometimes by man made disasters. Hope these can be prevented in the future.
