today I want to start my blog „USA roadtrip 2016“
My first stop was in Chicago, a very nice city with a great position at the Lake Michigan in Illinois, the north of the United States. Chicago is the third-most populous city in the States and the best-known nickname is Windy City.
You should see the highlights of this city, here a list:
Navy Pier
Navy Pier is a 3,300-foot-long pier on Lake Michigan and number one tourist attraction in Chicago. There are almost nine million visitors annually and it´s a nice place to spend your free time there.

360 Chicago: John Hancock Observatory
This nice place guarantees the best view of Chicago. It´s located on the 94th floor on the John Hancock Center in 1000 feet over Michigan Avenue. 360 Chicago offers to you great views of the skyline, the lakefront and the four neighbouring states.
Chicago Lakefront Bike Tour
Bicycling along the Lakefront Trail is a good idea for a great outdoor activity. For example, the routes begins at Millenium Park and includes the Navy Pier, Lincoln Park and Zoo, the beaches and different harbors.
Chicago Riverwalk
The riverwalk is a nice promanade along the Chicago river. There are many restaurants, bars, seating and boat rentals.
Parks and Zoo
Millennium and Maggie Daley Park is a public park located between Chicago downtown and Lake Michigan. One of the highlight is the Cloude Gate sculpture.

Grant Park with the buckingham fountain is next to the Maggie Dale Park and includes the Museum Campus.
Lincoln Park Zoo is a zoo located in Lincoln Park and the admission is free. It´s not the biggest zoo but it´s a nice place for families and everyone who loves animals and nature.

- Chicago has three free bus trolleys, but they are seasonal
- Magnificent Mile – Chicago´s shopping mile

heute möchte ich mit meinem Blog „USA Tour 2016“ beginnen, erster Stop war im schönen Chicago.
Chicago ist eine sehr sympathische und saubere Stadt mit wunderbaren Einwohnern.
Die Downtown mit seinen Wolkenkratzern erinnerte mich ein wenig an New York, aber durch die Lage am Lake Michigan im Bundesstaat Illinois hat Chicago einen ganz besonderen, maritimen Flair.
Bei tollem Wetter kann man entlang dem Lake Michigan flanieren, einen Ausflug aufs Wasser wagen oder mit dem Rad eine Tour starten.
Das solltet ihr sehen:
- Besuch des Navy Piers – die Touristenattraktion Nummer eins in Chicago. Über 9 Millionen Besucher schauen jährlich am Pier vorbei. Hier erwarten Euch Restaurants, Bootstouren, ein Riesenrad und vieles mehr. Dieser Ort macht Spaß!
- Ein Ausflug zum 360 Chicago: John Hancock Observatory ist für alle die nicht unter Höhenangst leiden ein Muss. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend und bei guter Sicht könnt ihr vier US- Bundesstaaten auf einmal überblicken. Natürlich wird auch eine tolle Aussicht auf den See und die Skyline von Chicago garantiert sein.
- Eine Radtour entlang des Lake Michigan (geführte Touren können sehr einfach vor Ort organisiert werden) ist eine tolle Möglichkeit die Stadt aktiv zu erleben. Die Touren führen entlang des Millennum Parks über Navy Pier zu den Strände zum Chicago Zoo.
- Bei einem Spaziergang (gerne auch am Abend) entlang des Chicago Riverwalk kann man eine neue Sichtweise auf diese schöne Stadt erhalten. Der Riverwalk ist direkt am Chicago River und ist wie eine Promenade aufgebaut mit vielen schönen Bars, Restaurants und verschiedene Bootsverleihstationen.
- Die verschiedenen Parks sind sehr Sehenswert, der Millennium Park liegt zwischen Downtown und dem See und das Cloude Gate ist auf jeden Fall ein Highlight. Im Grant Park könnt ihr den tollen Springbrunnen bewundern und im Lincoln Park findet ihr den Chicago Zoo welcher täglich kostenfrei öffnet. In diesen Parks habt ihr auf jeden Fall die Möglichkeit mal einen entspannten Nachmittag zu verbringen.
- Es gibt eine Buslinie die Euch kostenfrei von Downtown zum Navy Pier bringt, eine tolle Möglichkeit als Tourist die Stadt zu erkunden – aber die Verbindung ist saisonabhängig.
- Für die Basketball Fans unter Euch ist natürlich der Besuch der Bulls ein Highlight.
