Had an awesome trip to Hamburg for a bachelors party last weekend and wanted to share some impressions with you.
That's the infamous but magnificent Elbphilharmonie. Infamous because total costs for the city of Hamburg and its tax payers have been originally estimated with around 250M Euro and opening was planned for 2010. Due to several severe mistakes eventually costs summed up to roughly 1 Billion and the first concert was played not before January 2017.
Magnificent because ... just look at it:
And they have BEER 🍻 - not only standard beer, but a nice selection of Störtebecker craft beers

From the visitors platform you have a great views over the harbour, "Hafencity" and Hamburg
The great concert hall with impressive acoustic (at least that's what they say - you might not experience it yourself soon, as it is booked out for > 1 year)
"Elphi" is an outstanding and unique building and an absolutely must see. I spoke to a local and Hamburg is now proud and graceful to have it. Nobody is talking about all the wasted money, delay and corruption anymore. All's well that ends well!

Letztes Wochende war ich in Hamburg zu einem Jungesellenabschied. Erster Stop war die berühmt berüchtigte Elbphiharmonie. Berüchtigt, weil sie ursprünglich 250 Mio. Euro kosten und 2010 fertiggestellt werden sollte - als im Januar 2017 das Eröffnungskonzert stattfand, war fast 1 Milliarde verbraten.
Wie mir ein Hamburger erzählte, sind die Quärelen mittlerweile aber fast vergessen und die Leute sind stolz und glücklich über dieses einzigartige Bauwerk. Verständlich, wenn man sich die fantastische Architektur anschaut und dabei ein schönes Störtebecker einnimmt!
Im nächsten Teil berichte ich über die etwas verruchteren Seiten von Hamburg 😏
