Die Möglichkeiten
Möglichkeiten einen Job zu finden gibt es sehr viele. Angefangen in der Gastronomie, über Baustelle bis hin zur Farmarbeit. Wir hatten verdammt viele Jobs, einen oder mehrere Haken hatten die Jobs jedoch immer! Viele fordern natürlich Erfahrung in dem jeweiligen Job, 90% alle Backpacker logen/lügen das sich die Balken biegen.
Nach einer gewissen Zeit mussten wir das auch tun. (das ist wie beim professionellen Bodybuilding, du kannst es zwar Natural probieren und alles geben, Erfolg auf der Bühne wirst aber keinen haben).
Es gibt Jobs, da bekommst du nur fürs Flyer verteilen über 20 AUD pro Stunde oder nur für das Stoppschild auf Baustellen halten, über 30 AUD pro Stunde. Meistens sind es aber Jobs im 20 AUD-Bereich oder Schwarzarbeit für 15-18 AUD.
The opportunities
There are many ways to find a job in Australia. You can work in hospitality, at the construction side or on a farm. We had so many different jobs, but every job had his bad side (s)! We will tell you later what we mean...
Many Bosses expect experiences, 90% of the Backpackers faked (are faking) their cv's. After a while we had to do the same. (it's like professionell bodybuilding, you can try it natural and give everyday 110%, but on the stage you'll never have success).
There are Jobs, where you can earn 20 AUD per Hour, just for distributing flyers or for holding the Stop-sign at the construction side more than 30 AUD.
The majority of the jobs are paid with 20 Bucks per hour or cash in hand jobs, where you get between 15 and 18 AUD.
Wie findet man nun Jobs in Australien?
Wenn du aus bestimmten Ländern wie Deutschland etc. kommst solltest du auf jeden Fall das WORKING-HOLIDAY-VISA 417 mitbringen, um überhaupt einen offiziell angemeldeten Job bekommen zu können.
Traditionell laufen alle Backpacker im Zentrum herum und verteilen ihre Lebensläufe in diversen Shops, Restaurants, Vergnügungsparks und Firmen.
Wir suchten Tagelang auf Gumtree (ähnlich wie ebay-kleinanzeigen) nach Jobs, riefen dort an und sendeten unsere Bewerbungsunterlagen dort hin. Parallel druckten wir einige Lebensläufe aus und verteilten diese auch in unserem Umfeld. Das Feedback war eher deprimierend. Zu viele Backpacker kommen auf zu wenige Jobs.
How can you find a job?
If you come from countries like Germany, you should apply for a WORKING-HOLIDAY-VISA 417, to be able to get an official job.
Traditionally all of the Backpackers are looking for jobs in the centre of the city and apply with their cv's in their hand at the Shops, Restaurants, Funparks and companies.
We were looking for days at Gumtree for jobs, called the companies and sent them our cv's.
At the same time, we printed our cv's and applied at local companies. The Feedback we got, was a desaster. Too may Backpackers for too less jobs.
Der erste Job nach 1,5 Wochen Suche!
Nach unzähligen Bewerbungen und verzweifelten Donut- und Süßigkeiten-sessions, hatten wir einen Job. Woher hatten wir diesen nun? Wir hatten bevor wir nach Australien geflogen sind, natürlich mit jedem der schon einmal WoT in Australien gemacht hatte, darüber intensiv gesprochen und Kontakte eingeholt. Wir hatten einen Tipp+Kontakt von unserem Freund Robert (vielen Dank an dieser Stelle an dich) zu einer Firma bekommen, die Möbel und Geschirr für Feierlichkeiten im großen Stil verleiht und aufbaut.
Dort hatten wir im Vorfeld Kontakt aufgenommen und uns über den Robert empfehlen lassen. Der Plan ging auf, wir hatten einen Job beide mit ca. 22 AUD pro Stunde und legal angemeldet. HURRA!
The first Job after 1.5 weeks
After countless applications and many donuts and chocolate bars, we found a job!
Where did we get the job from?? Before we flew to Australia, we talked to every person we knew, whose have been already working in Australia.
Our friend Robert gave us the contactdetails to a company, which rents out furniture and crockery for celebrations and festivals (thanks again Robert).
We got in touch with this company and told them, we come with best wishes from Robert. It worked out, we had a job, we both were paid hourly 22 AUD. HURRAY!!
Wie findet man jetzt aber Jobs ohne vorherige Kontakte?
Wir hatten wie gesagt noch viele weitere Jobs, wir geben dir jetzt das Wissen womit du einen Job finden solltest:
Suche nach Jobs, wo andere nicht suchen. Damit meinen wir, geh in große Industriegebiete außerhalb der Stadtzentren und gehe direkt zu den Firmen. (unsere Möbelverleihfirma war dort auch ansäßig)
Jungs haben sehr gute Chancen als Möbelpacker, diese werden immer gesucht.
Hast du ein gelerntes Handwerk wie Schreiner, Maurer oder ähnliches, verdienst du hier ein Vermögen (30-45 AUD sind hier normal)
Spreche mit jedem Backpacker der dir über den Weg läuft, irgendeiner weiß immer etwas oder kennt einen der einen kennt.
In Hostels gibt es Schwarze Bretter, schaue dort immer drauf (so haben wir einen Job in der Gastro gefunden)
Möchtest du Flyer verteilen, frag die Flyerverteiler an wen du dich wenden sollst (so haben wir ein weiteres Jobangebot bekommen)
Möchtest du auf einer Farm arbeiten, suche Farmenballungsgebiete heraus und fahre direkt dort hin und spreche mit dem Farmer (hat in einer Notsituation auf einer Tomatenfarm geklappt)
Schau in diversen Facebookgruppen nach Job-offers und bewerbe dich umgehend
How can you find a job, our Tipps for you:
Like we said before, we had many different jobs, we tell you now our knowlegde how to get these the best way:
Look for jobs where other people don't look for it. What we mean is, go to big places where the industrie has its place, out of the city and go directly to the company. (our Furniture rental company was there as well)
For guys: you have good chances to work as a removalist, there are always job offers
do you have qualifications as a carpenter ######## or something like that: GREAT! You will earn tons of money (30-45 AUD is standard)
talk with every Backpacker you see about jobs. Somebody will know something or know somebody who knows something or somebody :-D
at Hostels you can find a Job Board. Go there and apply immediately. (we found one job in hospitality with that)
You want to distribute flyers, then ask the flyer distributors who to contact (we had one job offer from doing that)
You wanna work on a farm, then go to areas where many farms are located and ask the farmer for work (we worked on a tomato-farm, because we just asked)
Look and join different Facebookgroups, there are often job offers, apply immediately!
Wo sind jetzt die Haken an den Jobs?
Du musst dir im Klaren sein, dass du immer nur ein kleiner Backpacker bist und so wirst du meist auch behandelt.
In den meisten Firmen gibt es Fulltimer, saisonale Fulltimer und Backpacker.
Fulltimer sind in der Hierarchie natürlich ganz oben und bekommen bessere Schichten, sind nicht so leicht Kündbar (nach einer gewissen Zeit) etc.
Als Backpacker bekommst du oftmals zu wenige Schichten, da die Fulltimer natürlich als erstes versorgt werden.
Du bekommst Zwischenschichten oder Samstag auf Sonntag eine Nachtschicht und Sonntags sofort wieder eine Spätschicht.
Die doofen Aufgaben werden fast ausschließlich an die Backpacker abgegeben.
Es war bei uns sehr oft der Fall, das wir nur 2-3 Schichten die Woche bekamen, das war zu wenig zum sparen und reichte gerade so um zu leben.
Da du aber erst immer einen Tag vor der neuen Woche wusstest, wie du eingeteilt wurdest, konntest du auch keinen weiteren Job einfach so annehmen.
Du wusstest außerdem nie wie viele Stunden du am Tag arbeiten wirst, wenn Schluss war, war halt Schluss :-D.
So what are the bad things we told you?
You have one thing to know, you are always a small backpacker and you will be treated like that.
Most of the companies have fulltimers, seasonal fulltimers and backpackers.
Fulltimers are the most powerful employes and get the best shifts , the best working times and can't get fired so easily (after a bit of time)
The backpackers will get the rest of the shifts, most of the times, you will get too less shifts. You will get the shitty shifts like a nightshift from saturday to sunday and right on this sunday you have to do the lateshift.
The dumb tasks will go to the backpackers.
Most of the times we only got 2-3 shifts per week, it was too less to save enough money, just for paying the bills.
The damn thing was, you never knew how you'll work the next week. They tell you about one day before. So you can't take a second job. Furthermore, you never know when your day is finished, you are finished when its finished :-D
