Don't miss an opportunity

in #travel8 months ago

Today I want to share with you a trip I made a few weeks ago. I was out of Portugal for advanced training in my field of work, which took place in Luxembourg. Fortunately, I was already familiar with the very small and particularly picturesque country. Here it can be said and agreed that not all the best things are big in size, but in their particularity and specialty. As I arrived on the afternoon of the day before the training began, I had about two hours to wander around in the light of a fantastically warm day! Even for me, as a Portuguese, I was feeling quite hot, so you can imagine how it feels for a Luxembourger, used to 10 to 12 degrees centigrade for this time of year, to have to take to the streets in a whopping 27 degrees!!!
Travelling is one of my favorite things to do, and it would definitely be one of the things I'd do most if I were a lot wealthier... who knows, one day it might happen! I hope for the best with the bear market! Ahahah

The journey started very early, at Lisbon airport, at 7am... The sun was already giving its first "kisses" and "hugs" to those already on the streets... The flight went as usual, without a hitch and without any incidents. I was lucky and didn't end up with anyone too "annoying" sitting next to me. I took the aisle seat, which turned out to be much better as I didn't have to feel "guilty" about asking my next-door neighbor to get up.

When I arrived in Luxembourg, I was faced with a situation that was completely new to me. Public transport is free for everyone, residents, tourists and visitors alike.... In fact, this measure couldn't be greener. But it makes me wonder a little about the fairness of its application, because it's a burden borne by Luxembourg taxpayers, who may even decide not to take advantage of this benefit, but those who use transport and who don't pay their taxes there, as is the case with me, should be subject to a franchise payment in order to use it... I think it would be fairer for those who pay their taxes to know that they are being well spent. But maybe it's one of those things that doesn't matter much to a country with the highest GDP per capita of 133,590.15 USD (2021)!!! Impressive... don't you think? In my Portugal it's only 24,567.51 USD (2021)... That's how important this small country of just over 2,500 square kilometers is economically!

Now let me share some of the few photos I was able to take

Free travel for all? Nice, but .... 🥴It's a nice gesture to attract tourists

I have a lot of mixed feelings about it... IMHO i think it's a clear politic choice, not a fair sustainable measure for everyone

Lovely photo of the sun in the airplane's wing. Had now idea about Luxembourg's gdp, just insane! !BEER

I just found out right after the football match that Portugal won 9 nill to Luxembourg... and then the wild meme about the Lux GDP and Portugal's GDP appeared Ahahaha

Have been soo out of the football scene that everything passed me by; had no ideia about the meme, and only a couple days ago found out there was a derby last week and Benfica won... 🤣 !PIZZA

Every day that passes, I fell less and less interested in the "football scene"... just found out today that Portugal won the join Organization of the World Cup 2030... Ahahah I'm on the same "boat", moço! LOL

Whaaaaaatt? Just what we needed... more blue bags! ;)
