Travel report for New Zealand- Auckland (Part 1)
A little bit of background of myself, I am from Singapore, and used to travel at least once every 6 months for a little break. The places that my wife and I would visit are usually away from City (since Singapore is a pretty small city busting with humans everywhere), and we simply adore nature.
So due to covid, we are pretty stuck here in this little red dot, and due to the size of my country, there are nowhere fun or exciting to go (unlike people staying in other countries where they can still travel domestically, Singapore is only .... Singapore).
Today I would like to throwback and revisit one of the places that we loved - NewZealand
So this trip actually took place back in February 2019, a year before covid hits the world. I am so glad that we made it and everything went smoothly without any incident. We flying into Auckland from Singapore, and a 13-days road trip from Auckland to Christchurch, before flying back to Singapore from Christchurch.
I will try to recall as much as possible, and show some highlights of our trip.
Day 1 (Auckland)
A pretty straightforward day as it's a long flight from Singapore, about 9.5hrs, upon arrival, we simply pick up our car from our rental from Apex Car rental, travelled to our hotel and rest for the day. Of course we went around our hotels for some groceries shopping (for our road trip starting tomorrow) and went to the Sky City Casino for some adult's fun 😆
Day 2 (Auckland)
Our first trip in the morning are Hell's Gate Geothermal Park, and I would say, the place really doesn't look like earth.. somehow I felt like I was in Mars !
Amazing weather, amazing sight .. this is what I loved when travelling, to witness things that are out of the world and something totally different from what we have back home !
For the next stop, we went to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Amazing sights that I will never forget. New Zealand is such an amazing country with beautiful places. Boiling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and rocks, oddly colored lakes. It’s a must-see destination in Rotorua.
Wai-o-tapu Champagne Pool:
And of course the highlight of the place ... The Devil’s Bath :
LOOK HOW GREEN IT IS ! Devil’s Bath is definitely my favorite part of Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. It’s not a thermal bath. There is no steam rising from it. It just sits there peacefully.
Next stop, we went to Lake Rotorua
Just take a look at this beauty. Words can't describe how I'm feeling when looking back at this picture. The water gashing out with the wind blowing onto your face ... I just wish to take a moment and close my eyes and bring myself back to the exact same spot where I took this picture.
After a long day out in the wild, we stopped for the day and check-in at our Airbnb - Kellmatt Studio.
It's only the first official day in New Zealand and we are getting full of wonderful sights. Hope that you guys like this and please comments and upvote to motivates me to carry on writing ! I really wish to bring the rest of our wonderful journey and share it with everyone !
